FPJ’s Batang Quiapo started this week in a really high note as the opening salvo of its second season tagged #FPJBQBagongSimula trended online due to the highly talked about scenes that made the viewers kilig, gigil, and astounded.

Week 13 kicked off with the intense altercation between the families of Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Mokang (Lovi Poe), as authorities hunt them down for the criminal cases filed by her classmates after what happened during her debut party and at her school, wherein Tanggol and his friends assaulted her classmate JP (Dino Imperial). As Mokang’s family blamed Tanggol for the unfortunate events that happened to her, Tindeng (Charo Santos) insisted that Tanggol didn’t do anything wrong and he only did it to save Mokang after JP (Dino Imperial) attempted to sexually assault her.

Upon learning that Tanggol once again caused a commotion, Rigor (John Estrada) unhesitatingly got his rifle and vexingly brandished it going to the Dimaculangans, where Tanggol was being beaten up by Mokang’s father Marsing (Pen Medina) and brother Edwin (Ping Medina). Fearing for the life of his grandson, Tindeng urged him to run away, to which he obliged by also taking Mokang with him.

They were able to stop the infuriated Rigor when he arrived at the scene, with Tindeng and Marsing expressing their rage against him. As both families retreated to their respective homes, Marsing and Edwin decided to search for Mokang, Tindeng and Noy talked about Tanggol’s possible whereabouts, while Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Rigor had a heated discussion regarding the new trouble Tanggol got into.

Meanwhile, Tanggol, Mokang, and their friends went back to the pub and met with its owner Mang Berting (Joey Marquez) to ask for his help and seek refuge while the police are still looking for them. As they offered to lend their hands to him in return, Mang Berting accepted it and advised them to begin changing their lives and doing good deeds first. It was later on found out that Mang Berting used to be a policeman who was taken out of service because of his corrupt colleagues. Aside from his job, he also lost his family after a syndicate that he went head-to-head killed them.

Mang Berting and Mokang’s pep talk made Tanggol and his friends ponder about the next move they’re about to do. And it seems that Tanggol immediately has a change of heart as he told Mokang while she was washing dishes that he’s willing to change in order for him to win her heart and convince her that he’s really serious with everything that he has told her.

In the following episode, Ramon (Christopher de Leon) already arrived from his business trip in South Korea, while Supremo (Lito Lapid) and his troop plotted their operation against Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) and her group.

The promotion of Police MGen. Augustus V. Pacheco (Julio Diaz) to regional director got impeded after the higher-ups questioned his credentials and he didn’t have any significant milestones in his career yet in the recent years. Thus, he’s considering to sacrifice their business partner Red Phoenix group in order to attain the promotion he’s been yearning for.

Tanggol and his friends has also started their “going straight” life by accompanying Mang Berting in his gig in Binondo, wherein they would work as kitchen helpers. On their way there, Mokang and Tanggol surely made the viewers kilig with their banters and kulitan moments as he professed his love for her and she kept on dodging it as she wanted to see first if he’s really serious in living a new life.

In the next episodes, the search continues for Tanggol and his friends as their families asked around Quiapo regarding their possible whereabouts or whether the anyone has spotted them by any chance. Meanwhile, the troop has already started in the first-ever legit job they ever have and promised Mang Berting that they’re indeed going to take it seriously. Mang Berting grouped them into different sections, with Tanos (Mark Anthony "Big Mak" Andaya), Bulldog (Sugar Ray "Mammoth" Estroso), and Dolfo (Ryan Martin) assigned in the washing area, Oweng (Renz Joshua "Baby Giant" Baña) and Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo) in the preparation area, and Mokang and Tanggol in the hot kitchen as his sous chefs.

As the Chinese wedding went on at the hotel where they are working, the intense shootout between the henchmen of Supremo and Amanda also took place. Not only Supremo’s underlings were able to conquer the minions of Amanda, but they were also able to seize a portion of the drug cargos that were supposed to be delivered to Angkong (Joonee Gamboa). This, of course, got Angkong disappointed, which compelled him to ask Ramon to supply the lacking 30 kilograms.

Meanwhile, Tindeng and Marites had a dramatic heart-to-heart conversation as the latter expressed how apologetic she is for everything ill that her husband did to her and how she failed to defend her and show her that she loves her. As Marites promised to be a better daughter for her, Tindeng accepted her offer for her and Noy to return at their house. They’re able to make peace with and forgive each other in the end.

In the final episode for this week, it was revealed that Supremo used to be allies with Amanda and Augustus, but they betrayed him. Thus, he really aims to exact vengeance at them and bring them down.

Greg got furious as his Uncle Ramon once again made him feel that he’s less important and couldn’t be trusted as he excluded him in his transaction with Angkong.

Just when they thought that their path to the new life would be straight, Tanggol and his friends found themselves in hot water again as they engaged in a fisticuff against the other kitchen staff after one of them attempted to sexually harass her. Of course, they fought back, which really enraged Mang Berting.

With a go-signal from Augustus, the police also raided the hotel and got into an intense battle with the troops of Ramon and Angkong. As they’re about to escape, Tanggol and his friends bumped into the group of Greg in one of the hallways of the hotel and neither of them refused to put down their guns.

This teases us to more exciting happenings that we should look forward to in the next episodes of the coming week!

Rave tweets from netizens

The episodes in the 13th week of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo indeed brought kilig and gigil vibes to the viewers and netizens. They took to Twitter to express how they felt towards the previous episodes, particularly for this week’s first episode tagged “#FPJBQBagongSimula,” which made it to the trending topics on the said micro-blogging site.

Netizens couldn’t help but get kilig with the kulitan and “landian” scenes of Mokang and Tanggol, which made them notice the undeniable chemistry between them. At the same time, they also aired how gigil they are towards the father-and-son tandem of Rigor and David anew because of how despicable they both are.

We were also astounded with the performances of the cast, especially the veteran actors who appeared in this week’s episodes, making us feel the naturality of their acting in every scene. These included the series of altercations among the Dimaguibas and Dimaculangans due to the sudden disappearance of Tanggol and Mokang and the trouble they figured in, and that moving, emotional scene between Marites and Tindeng as they made amends. The fight scenes between the minions of Supremo and Amanda, Ramon and his henchmen versus the police, as well as between Tanggol and friends and the kitchen staff at the hotel they worked at were also executed seamlessly.

That last scene in the fifth episode showing the encounter between Tanggol and his friends and Greg and his minions also surely brought us to the edge of our seats and enkindled our excitement for the next episodes.
