While Dexie could be new to the eyes of some, she’s actually familiar to others who had seen her in her previous appearances in ABS-CBN as a talented child actor, such as in several episodes of Wansapanataym and Maalaala Mo Kaya, as well as in teleseryes where she played as the young counterparts of adult actresses.

And after years of staying out of the limelight to focus on her studies and, at the same time, build a career on social media as a game livestreamer and influencer while she was on the so-called “awkward stage,” she made a showbiz comeback through FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. In an exclusive interview with PUSH, she disclosed that it was actually Coco Martin who cast her since they’ve been friends for a long time. They first worked together in the 2012 classic series Walang Hanggan, where she portrayed the young Katerina (Julia Montes).

“Actually, he told me na if there’s a character na pwede kong i-portray, ako ‘yong kukunin niya. So, I’m doing my best to be the ‘Best Annika’ sa Batang Quiapo,” she imparted.

Since she was out of show business for quite some time, Dexie confessed that she felt overwhelmed at first and she’s still adjusting to how things work on and off cam. Thus, she’s thankful to the staff and their directors Malu L. Sevilla, Darnel Joy R. Villaflor, and Coco Martin because of how all of them are easy to work with. Besides, she also expressed her gratitude to her acting coach, whose workshops she truly enjoys and really help her further improve her skills.

When asked if there are other projects that she’s currently working on aside from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, or if she’s going to continue her acting career after the series, Dexie responded, “a bit.” According to her, she is not keen on making a full comeback on the entertainment scene as she wants to try focusing on herself this 2024 by doing things that she loves and makes her happy. These include self-care activities and her hobbies like driving, drifting, racing, and motorcycling.
