Batang Quiapo BTS Ryza Cenon as Olga

It’s difficult not to hate Olga for her revenge schemes. But when recent episodes of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo revealed her backstory, particularly her brokenness that turned her cold and evil, it became difficult not to sympathize with her, too. It was as if the tables had turned, and viewers are now rooting for her win.

We can all agree that a key factor in the audience’s change of heart towards Olga is Ryza Cenon’s compelling portrayal of the character’s sorrowful past, regrets, and motivation in recent episodes. Through flashbacks, the actress was able to create a young Olga who may not be easy to love, but one who is also hard to hate.

It must be fun exploring a character this way. Let’s see how much Ryza had a blast on the set of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo via these behind-the-scenes photos!

First and foremost, she extended courtesy to her counterpart, seasoned actress Irma Adlawan, who plays the present Olga.

She also made sure to take charge of the character’s story, getting deep into its heart and soul, resulting in a performance that was palpable and powerful.

Ryza was one of the stars who established the series’ storyline, as she appeared in the pilot episode alongside Coco Martin, who played the young Ramon (later Christopher de Leon). This served as her comeback project on primetime since giving birth in 2020.

In a past episode of Kapamilya Chat, Ryza detailed that she immediately asked Coco about Olga’s background since they weren’t given a full script, relying mostly on his instructions and spontaneous ideas.

As part of her preparations, she also studied Irma’s acting style, which is all about expressing emotions through the eyes.

Ryza had big moments in the teleserye’s pilot episode as Ramon’s partner in a bank robbery which resulted in a high-speed chase and shootout. She also delivered a remarkable performance alongside Miles Ocampo, who portrayed the young Marites, in that trending scene of Olga’s attempt to take Marites’ newborn son.

Follow Olga’s story in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, airing weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
