Wedding day is supposedly one of the best and happiest days of a woman’s life. But that was not the case for Katherine Caballero, impressively played by Ara Davao, who was the saddest person on the day of her wedding with David (McCoy de Leon), a.k.a. Fake Hesus Nazareno, in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
As we all know, their marriage was only arranged by David himself and her ever-domineering Mamita, Señora Bettina (Tessie Tomas), which was completely out of her will since aside from the fact that she has no romantic feelings towards him, she also doesn’t like him at all. Thus, instead of excitement and happiness, dejection and distress were painted onto her face as she walked down the aisle, as seen in the August 21 episode of the consistently top-rating primetime series.
But contrary to being a “sad bride” onscreen, Ara was actually blushing and glowing in the behind-the-scenes snap of herself that she recently uploaded on her official Facebook page. She looked so fresh in her simple makeup and very stunning in her white Filipiniana gown while holding a bouquet of flowers. She may appear very demure, but she attached a cutesy caption to it that read, “Dalagang Pilipina yeah…” which was taken from a popular song.
On the other hand, despite making our blood boil with how scheming, cruel, arrogant, and ruthless of a man he is, which proves how effective his portrayal of his character is, McCoy still surely made a lot of his followers swoon with his handsomeness in the off-cam snaps of himself that he posted on Instagram. The said post has already racked up thousands of “likes,” which attests that he’s still able to capture a lot of hearts despite his notorious kontrabida role. And he apparently stood by his character as he captioned it, “Mag umpisa tayo ulit simula mamayang gabi.”
We got to see more behind-the-scene clips taken from the wedding of Fake Hesus and Katherine in the reel published by CCM Film Productions on its official IG page, through which we’re given a glimpse of how they shot one of the most remarkable sequences in the recent episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” The church scenes may appear peaceful and solemn on our screens, but there were actually a lot of things going behind the camera as the staff and crew worked diligently and carefully in order to capture every significant moment with the utmost precision.
Aside from McCoy and Ara, we also spotted other cast members, such as Christopher de Leon, Tessie Tomas, Jaime Fabregas, and Tommy Abuel. Even though her character, Camille, wasn’t invited to the occasion, Yukii Takahashi was also there. Camille may have shown up at the wedding sweaty, pitiful, and distraught when she arrived at the church and indeed saw David at the end of the aisle waiting for his bride, but Yukii was actually very fresh off-cam. A couple of staff helped her wipe off her tears and sweat after shooting that scene, which can be considered one of her best.
Will the Montenegros and Caballeros finally find out the real identity of David? Let’s all find out by not missing the next episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights at 8 PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
