A whole new level of adrenaline-pumping skirmish has recently exploded in Quiapo as different factions invaded the city’s annual feast, each with an individual core motive. The fight scenes would not have been shaped up with added realism and intensity, of course, without the cops.
Unlike other teleseryes that only depict the police force as side characters, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo keep them crucial to the whole narrative. The frontliners of the fictitious National Law Enforcement Agency (NLEA) are given compelling character arcs. And although viewers hate them for their corrupt practices in the story, in real life, they’re often lauded for their ‘astig’ portrayal.
Check out what their typical day on set looks like as shown in these behind-the-scenes photos!
Taking some time off from high-octave action sequences and much sleuthing, the police officers smile it up for the camera. We may hate Rigor (John Estrada) and Lena (Mercedes Cabral) to the bone, but we definitely adore the actors behind them, who are considered to be two of the most exceptional in the industry. Joining them in the image below are Allan Paule, Jorel Ramirez, and Victor Silayan. And if you notice, the super-strict Col. Suarez (King Gutierrez) is naturally wacky off-cam.
Jorel, playing Lt. Samonte, unleashes his inner fanboy and enjoys taking photos with his co-stars. He made sure to have a souvenir shot with Christopher de Leon and Ivana Alawi, whose characters were present in the recent Quiapo encounter.
Make the most of these photos because we will never again see them grin this big once they put on their characters and the cameras start rolling.
We mean, Rigor’s smile in this picture is a stark contrast to his perennially miffed persona on screen.
Police Lt. Mario Samonte or Police Lt. Luis Jacobe: Choose your fighter!
General Augustus Pacheco (Julio Diaz) takes a break from hunting down his ex-love and mortal enemy, and instead poses for group shots with his fellow cops.
Before you get too carried away with the heart-thumping action sequences, here’s proof that the actors get along well off-cam, yup, even the cops and the lawbreakers.
But when it’s time to grind, expect nothing but intense action spectacle from these gentlemen.
Watch these cops hunt for Tanggol (Coco Martin) and the felons of Quiapo in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
