In keeping a family as harmonious as the Pangilinan clan is, there must be some rules to follow inside the home. In this episode of Kapamilya Chat, Maricel Laxa and Hannah Pangilinan shared some of the principles that contribute to their family dynamics.

When it comes to shopping, the matriarch of the Pangilinan clan, Maricel, stands firm on a crucial rule—setting a budget. Hannah fondly recalls their childhood days when they were only allowed to get toys within a specific price range.

On friendships, Maricel used to prefer having her kids’ friends over at their home. This made managing a household with numerous children easier, as well as served as an opportunity to understand her kids better by knowing their friends.

Now that she decides on her own, Hannah takes a more flexible stance on friendships. She can get along well with anyone. Her only personal rule when it comes to friendships is to value reciprocity, making sure that she shows up for her friends just as they stand by her in times of need, especially when she needs their support for a project.

When it comes to tattoos, Maricel has only one rule for her kids – give it a thoughtful consideration. “Para sa akin, pag gagawin mo ‘yan dapat pinag-isipan mo. Dapat alam mo ‘yung mga pros and cons niyan at hindi mo pagsisisihan dahil nabigla ka lang, o napa-oo ka dahil ‘yung mga friends mo gagawin ‘yan. Dapat may kahulugan kasi permanent ‘yan.”

Hannah agreed, saying that each tattoo on her skin holds profound significance. She also engages in open conversations with her parents before adding a new one. We also learned that the Pangilinan siblings are planning to have matching tattoos.

Relationships come with strict rules in the Pangilinan household, imposed by the kids themselves. For instance, Ella, the eldest, adhered to her rule that a suitor must seek her father’s blessing before courting her, which, her now-husband Enrique did. Meanwhile, for Hannah, she thinks the best rule is to make friendship the foundation of a romantic relationship.

In the digital age, the Pangilinan family acknowledges the importance of a balanced approach to screen time. Asked about their family’s rules on gaming, Hannah reminisces about their childhood, where limited screen time facilitated genuine connections with people. Maricel emphasizes the importance of providing alternatives, such as board games or books for the younger members of the household.

As the discussion delved into dealing with social media bashing, Maricel imparted nuggets of wisdom about the importance of grace. She said that everyone must use their social media platforms responsibly as it has the power to affect people.

When we talk about family goals, Team Pangilinan easily comes to mind, with how they exemplify the power of collaboration inside the home and even as content creators.

The Pangilinan family’s latest ‘collab’ project is the first-ever e-sports movie in the Philippines, “GG,” where Maricel Laxa and Donny Pangilinan play as mother and son, with Donny’s sister Hannah Pangilinan as the movie’s creative producer, and their patriarch Anthony Pangilinan as among the producers.

As "GG" gears up for release, it not only promises to entertain but also to bridge generational gaps, spark important conversations, and provide a genuine representation of the gaming world.

Experience the first ever Philippine e-sports film, coming to cinemas this January 24!
