One’s passion for learning is a powerful force that can transform lives and open doors to endless possibilities. It’s this relentless drive to grow and improve that defines the journey of Maymay Entrata, as showcased in the latest episode of "Kuan on One” hosted by our funny Kuantie Melai Cantiveros on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube Channel.

Maymay opens up about her faith, which has been her anchor during tough times. She shares how her belief in God helped her navigate through life's hurdles. And probably her resilience comes from her Bisaya roots. She talks about the humility and strong family values of the Bisaya people, and how they know their place and maintain respect even in humor, never crossing the line into rudeness. This deep connection to her heritage is a significant part of what grounds her.

The conversation takes a playful turn as they reminisce about school days. Melai, with her infectious humor, recalls being called "kulot salot" by bullies but responding with playful dances to annoy them. She also shares a hilarious story about a classmate who pretended to be possessed to avoid tests. Maymay's school memories are filled with joy and laughter as well. She even makes a candid confession about a smelly incident from her school days. Who wouldn’t love her being so real?

Both Melai and Maymay admit that English was a challenging subject for them. Interestingly, they both pursued English courses in college. Maymay believes that facing your weaknesses head-on and working to improve them can turn them into strengths. She even took the bold step of studying in the United States for five months, where she felt free to make mistakes and learn without judgment.

Maymay loves learning and believes that our minds are always evolving. Her advice to students to avoid stress is to balance their studies with engaging activities like sports and performing arts. “This is our opportunity to get to know ourselves better,” she says. Being a student also involves learning how to manage stress and be patient, skills that are crucial once you leave school and enter the real world. The time spent inside the classroom is also a chance to improve oneself as a whole and learn to adapt in the workplace later on. The real world is vastly different, which is why it's essential to prepare while you're young.

For Maymay, learning is a lifelong journey. When she won Pinoy Big Brother, she initially thought she would return to her province afterward. She never imagined becoming a celebrity because she didn’t feel beautiful or good enough. But she was acutely aware of her weaknesses and made a conscious effort to improve them. Recognizing that singing and speaking English were her weak points, she dedicated herself to taking lessons and honing these skills.

Outside of school, Maymay learns a lot from life itself. One of the key lessons she stresses is the value of self-awareness in discovering true happiness. She acknowledges how daunting it can be to feel lost and uncertain about your goals. So, her advice is to actively explore various interests and experiences. Afterwards, reflect on where you feel the most joy and fulfillment, and where your talents shine brightest. She reminds us that uncovering your life's purpose isn't always straightforward—it often takes time and patience to uncover.

One admirable thing about Maymay is her knack for balance. She understands the importance of both a diploma and "diskarte" (resourcefulness), adeptly juggling both as crucial tools. That's why, while pursuing her dreams in showbiz, she never stopped studying.

When Bisayas tackle “Dakong Problema” (Big Problems), the discussion usually ends with laughter. In this segment, Melaiand Maymay had a blast during a Bisaya translation session. We also picked up some Bisaya phrases like "simbako," "palihog," and "naunsa."

After the hilarious game, it was time to get serious again with "Ultimate Yawyaw," where they shared insights from their conversation. Melai learned from Maymay that stress sometimes arises from idleness, hence the difference that being active and focused can make, just like Maymay does. "If you want to succeed, take action," she wisely pointed out.
