Her character Thalia in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano may always be seen as fierce and antagonistic, but up-and-coming actress Marela Torre actually exudes a totally different energy in real life, as what we have witnessed in her appearance in a recent episode of ABS-CBN Entertainment’s Kapamilya Confessions.

Prior to responding to the questions sent in by netizens and viewers of the livestream, she took on first the fun “Marela o Marites Challenge,” wherein she had to determine whether each item or activities given to her is something that she would likely to do or not.

Among those things that she tagged “Marela Move” as she’s likely to do them are laughing in serious moments, not answering to unknown callers, and snoozing her alarms; while she tagged “Marites Move” those things that she’s not done or will never do are refuting bashers on the comments section, sleeping with her makeup on, partying all night, being updated to the latest gossips, throwing tantrums when not in the mood, ordering food that she can’t completely consume, and not replying to messages for days.

Proceeding to the Kapamilya Confessions proper, Marela enthusiastically answered questions mostly about her remarkable stint in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

As she and veteran actress Vangie Labalan both play as the right hands of Tommy Abuel’s character Don Ignacio in the series, she disclosed that she has formed a unique bond with her because aside from she enjoys her presence on and off cam, they’re also both proud Ilonggas. Thus, they couldn’t help themselves from conversing in Ilonggo.

And speaking of Vangie and Tommy, Marela imparted that among her favorite on-and-off-cam moments are with them, especially every time they are having their senior moments on the set.

Since the primetime drama have been running for six years already, the cast, staff, and crew have surely established a tight bond. But she never made them feel out of place, so she has nothing but gratitude to all them. Among them, she admitted being the closest to Paolo Paraiso, who she got to work with in the 2018 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino entry “We Will Not Die Tonight” directed by Richard Somes.

Meanwhile, it’s with her scenes with Sharon Cuneta to whom she gets nervous the most with since she’s the Megastar. Thus, she tries her best to not commit any mistake not only because she’s a great actress, but she doesn’t want to waste the time of Sharon and of their other co-stars.

When it comes to the most exciting part of being on the show, the young actress revealed that it’s the overwhelming support they receive from the viewers.

So, maraming salamat po talaga,” she related.

With regards to her preparations for her scenes, Marela revealed that her being an amateur boxer before actually helped her in doing her action scenes. Her dad, award-winning veteran actor Joel Torre who also used to be part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Alyana’s (Yassi Pressman) father, also gives her pieces of advice and tips on how to execute her love scenes since she’s a self-confessed “generally awkward” person.

That’s why she is also grateful to her co-star Geoff Eigenmann, who plays her love interest Police Major Albert de Vela for helping her out before, during, and after filming their intimate scenes. When asked if their characters are going to end up together, she said that she doesn’t have any idea how their story will fare, yet she’s hopeful that they will.

She also refused to divulge if there’s going to be a twist in her character Thalia, to whom she couldn’t actually find herself with since they are polar opposites when it comes to their personalities. However, she considers it advantageous as she’s able to establish a clear defined line between Marela and Thalia, making it effortless for her to break away from her character.

When asked if she was compelled by her father to follow his footsteps in the local entertainment scene, she revealed that it’s actually her personal decision, considering that she chose to take this path instead of pursuing a career related to her college course.

After being casted in a string of acting projects in the recent years, including the Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo-starrer La Luna Sangre, she expressed her interest to be part of a comedy show or movie, which is on her bucketlist.

It may be nice and truly such an honor to be recognized as the daughter of Joel Torre, to whom she probably inherited her talent in cooking, but she opts to be more known as a good person, first and foremost.

Aside from FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, she also appears in the Pinoy indie film “Circle of Bones,” which is yet to be shown in Philippines as well soon.

Catch Marela Torre as Thalia on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z Channel 11, TV5, and iWantTFC.
