Whatever your relationship status is, you’ll love all the pleasant and sweet real-life stories featured on ABS-CBN’s Made For YouTube specials Love Bites, which is currently on its second season. For its next episode, Kaila Estrada, Joao Constancia, and Chie Filomeno bring to life a tale about “closure.”

During their appearance on Kapamilya Chat, Joao and Chie said that they consider this their most mature project, as they’re playing husband and wife with kids. The need to put their feet in a married couple’s shoe was challenging. As for Kaila, working with new co-stars added to the jitters. But they all had fun, thanks to their collaborative teammates and director. Add to that, they were immersed in a scenic location in Puerto Galera. The girls mentioned they have no scenes together, but they bonded well off-cam as roommates.

This Love Bites episode is short, sweet, and relatable – especially to those still stuck with “what ifs.” Asked their similarities with their characters, Joao admitted his role mirrors his experience of liking a close friend and wondering what could’ve been after they reconnected. “I used that as my hugot din pagdating sa mga eksena namin,” he shared, though he won’t consider it his “TOTGA” since they’re both happy where they are now.

Chie dismissed the idea of TOTGAs as well, saying it’d be unfair for the current partner. “Kasi once na parang hindi ka maka-move on sa kung anong meron before, hindi ka dapat maghanap o pumasok sa isang relationship. Kailangan mong alisin ‘yung TOTGA na ‘yun,” she explained, while Joao and Kaila nodded their heads in agreement.

Kaila echoed the same sentiment, “As I get older and as I mature, I realized you’ll meet people along the way. You’ll come across people, you’ll have relationships with them. If it’s not meant to be, ibig sabihin no’n, that chapter of your life was just meant to be a chapter.” She added that the feeling of having a TOTGA equates to being thankful for the memories and accepting that there are more chapters to open in your life. “It’s just accepting destiny as it is, accepting things as they are, also learning to let go.”

In keeping with the story’s theme, they went on to share their thoughts about closure. From Joao’s perspective, not everyone deserves or needs closure. Similarly, Chie believes that not having closure is already closure in itself. Why waste time looking back on something that’s already broken? “Let’s leave it at that na lang muna and time will tell kung kailan ka maghe-heal from that heartbreak and once na nag-heal ka, you’ll be happy.” She pressed the need to embrace the pain as part of moving on. Kaila likewise believes that closure brings clarity “but life won’t always give you that.” This pivots back to acceptance and letting go.

Apart from closure and what ifs, the episode will also shed light on the importance of assurance in a relationship. As Joao puts it, “It’s also reminding that person how much you love and care for that person para hindi niya kailangan mag-isip pa ng kung anu-ano.”

He draws the line between asking for reassurance and begging, though. It’s normal to want to feel validated but not to the point of desperately asking for it. “No one deserves to feel that way. No one deserves to beg for reassurance,” he underscored.

Kaila shared an insightful analogy on how she deals with asking for reassurance, in which the partner’s answer must either be a yes or a no. There are no maybes and in-betweens.

The “Closure” stars, by the sounds of it, have been through a lot in the romance department, a mix of joy and pain. But the best thing they’ve done for love, according to the ladies, is to learn how to make sacrifices, which applies to all kinds of relationships. As for Joao, it’s about learning to love himself as well.
