The nostalgia is real as Keempee de Leon looked back on his unforgettable firsts in showbiz and his personal life via the Kapamilya Chat Firsts Challenge.

The game commenced with the actor’s first splurge using his ‘artista’ salary. He said it’s a watch that he saved up for using his talent fee in That’s Entertainment. At the time, he asked German Moreno aka Kuya Germs’ assistant to keep his passbook and deposit his talent fees straight into his account until he saved up enough for a good watch.

“Hindi naman sa millions, hindi hundreds. Pero kahit sabihin mong nasa thousands lang siya, para doon sa naipon mo at pinag-ipunan mo, malaking bagay ‘yun. So, tine-treasure ko ‘yun… Kumbaga, nakita ko na ‘yung pinahirapan ko bilang baguhan pa lang noon, may napuntahan din,” he said. Kuya Germs must be very happy to know that Keempee still keeps it to this day.

His first overseas trip was to Hong Kong with TVJ or Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and his father Joey de Leon, with their respective families. That was around 1983. Around that time, he also had his first TV performance when he danced for Joey’s birthday celebration in a noontime show.

The actor, who was recently cast in 2 Good 2 Be True, fell in love young and had his first girlfriend in third grade. He also got his first taste of heartbreak in elementary when he got rejected by the girl he was courting.

Before his gay role in the upcoming film “Mahal Kita Beksman,” he already played several gay characters and the first one was for a sitcom.

Asked his first favorite KDrama, he said he prefers Korean action films such as “Train To Busan.” The first recipe he mastered in the kitchen was fried egg. Well, you got to start somewhere.

On the first person who inspired him, he mentioned his parents, then, his friends, “Kasi nakikita nila kung ano’ng ugali mo, ano’ng inaasta mo, ano ‘yung dating mo, kung may nabago ba sa’yo.”
