Kapamilya Snaps: Celebrities who choose to give back on their birthdays

Birthdays are definitely one of the most important days in the life of every person. Thus, we make sure that this is going to be extra special by holding a party, going on a vacation, or may be taking ourselves or our loved ones to a date.

However, there are some who choose to mark the day they get a year older by sharing their blessings to other people, especially those who are in need – just like the generous stars in this Kapamilya Snaps feature!

Kim Chiu

With all the outpouring blessings that she’s been reaping through the years, Kim chooses to share them through by holding outreach programs to various depressed areas and non-government childcare institutions. And for her 33rd birthday last April, she and her team once again prepared and distributed food and grocery packs from her endorsements for a community in Cavite. She shared a few highlights from the event through a reel, which she captioned, “I couldn’t ask for any other birthday celebration than to see their hands full and happy faces. Heart is full. Thank you, Lord God.”

In the previous year, the It’s Showtime host also prepared and distributed 1000 food packages, as well as bonded with kids during her charity event at an orphanage.

Alexa Ilacad

A certified animal lover that she is, Alexa chose to mount her 18th birthday thanksgiving celebration in 2018 at an animal shelter in Los Baños, Laguna, with the help of her fans and sponsors. She played with the dogs and cats, as well as prepared food for the dogs and cats being taken care of there in her gorgeous debutante dress.

She and her beloved Alexanators did the same when she turned 22 last year, as they held a paw-some mini party in another animal shelter. She wrote in one of her Instagram posts, “Ito talaga ang gusto kong birthday gift sa lahat – ang makatulong sa animal shelter because this is really my advocacy.”

Catriona Gray

Being a beauty queen and philanthropist, Catriona has been constantly taking part in various charity events, especially on her birthday.

And for her 29th birthday last January, the Miss Universe 2018 encouraged others to also share their blessings by hosting a fundraiser for Smile Train Philippines, an organization that offers free cleft lip care and treatment for those in need.

Enchong Dee

Ever since he became part of the ABS-CBN youth-oriented series “Your Song Presents: Boystown” that was shot in the Manila Boys Town Complex in Marikina City in 2009, it has been a tradition of Enchong to visit there every November to celebrate his birthday.

Making his celebration extra special last year is that the food packs his team distributed were personally cooked by his beloved Mama. He also shared some of the delectable cakes he received from his friends and endorsements. His fans also shared that they also organize different activities for his birthday every year, such as blood-letting, clean-up drive, tree planting, and free swimming lessons, which is attended by the actor.

Michelle Vito

For her 25th birthday in October 2022, Michelle took this as an opportunity to extend her blessings to underprivileged children. With the help of her friends and boyfriend Enzo Pineda, they gave away food packs, school supplies, vitamins, and groceries at a childcare institution. The The Iron Heart actress shared some highlights in a reel and wrote, “Birthdays are the perfect time to give back and celebrate with others.”

Kylie Versoza

The beauty queen-turned-actress spent her 31st birthday last February by doing charity. She and her group Mental Health Matters teamed up with the Philippine Red Cross to extend help to the kids being supported by the humanitarian organization. Kylie provided teddy bears, books, food, and self-care kits to the adorable children.

Ryza Cenon

With the help of her loyal fans club called Ryza Believers, Ryza was able to successfully host an outreach program on her birthday in December 2022. Her chosen charity was Bahay Aruga, a free halfway house for children with cancer.

Since her birthday is around the holiday season, the FPJ’s Batang Quiapo actress didn’t just provide food packs to the kids, but Christmas gifts from benevolent sponsors, too. She also gave us a glimpse of the simple yet fun Christmas party though an IG reel and wrote in the caption, “I’m extremely grateful to have spent another birthday together with people that I love and cherish.”

Jhong Hilario and Sarina

Aside from aiding Baby Sarina in developing her skills and talents, Jhong is already teaching her the importance of being generous and charitable at a very young age. As his daughter turned two last March and their social media and YouTube contents continuously receive overwhelming support, the It’s Showtime host and his family decided to share their outpouring blessings by holding a thanksgiving event for underprivileged kids held at Sta. Catalina College.

These heartfelt birthday celebrations are just one of the many ways our Kapamilya stars share their blessings and give back to different communities. May they serve as inspirations for all of us. How about you, Kapamilya? How do you become a blessing to other people?
