We’re familiar with the idea of a ‘mom squad’ – a tight-knit village of fellow moms offering advice, empathy, and camaraderie. But let's not overlook the fact that dads need their crew too.

Often given the role of the breadwinner and provider, dads also need companionship from fellow fathers, with whom they can relate, share experiences, or simply de-stress.

Imagine the fun, wisdom, and shared adventures – a ’dad squad’ will sure add color to every man’s parenting experience. As we gear up for Father’s Day 2024, we asked some Kapamilya ‘popshies’ who they’d recruit in their dream ‘celebrity dad squad’, and here are their picks. 

Ogie Alcasid’s ‘dadkada’ will look like a reunion of long-time buddies, with Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano topping his list, alongside his TV ‘partners’ Michael V and Janno Gibbs. 

Friendships that endure from the carefree days of singledom through the responsibilities of fatherhood often form the strongest bond. Luis Manzano envisions reuniting his old crew, the Kanto Boys – Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford, and John Lloyd Cruz – but this time, their focus will be on navigating the joys and challenges of raising kids together. “It would be nice namagsama-sama ulit ang Kanto Boys bilang mga daddy o magkaroon ng play date para makita din namin ang isa’t isa,” Luis smiled.

Dominic Ochoa maintained that while friends aren’t chosen, he would like to build a team with people whom he can have deep conversations about life with.

For Jhong Hilario, the choice is clear-cut. Vhong Navarro, his companion since their Streetboys days and now alongside him on "It's Showtime," will make it to his lineup. Alongside his fellow "Showtime" co-hosts, he’d also invite icons like Christopher de Leon because he looks up to him, and Ian Veneracion “para maambunan ako ng kabutihan,” he quipped.

Nyoy Volante’s choices—Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, and Ogie Alcasid—are partly influenced by his admiration for them.

In building a dad cave, it helps if if its members share common interests because, after all, dads deserve some fun too. Markus Paterson thinks of bonding with celebrity dads who share his passion for motorcycles, such as Diego Loyzaga. 

Bayani Agbayani’s gang promises all-out laughter with fellow comedians Long Mejia, Pekto, John Feir, Bearwin Meily, and Jobert Austria, and adding Luis Manzano for good measure.

Whether bonding over shared passions like motorcycles or bringing laughter to every gathering, these ‘dream dad squads’ will certainly prove that fatherhood is an adventure best enjoyed together.
