Stars’ Favorite ABS-CBN Christmas ID

In the past days, snaps and clips of several Kapamilya artists captured during what seemed to be the recording session for this year’s ABS-CBN Christmas ID made rounds in the internet. And just last November 2, the two teasers for “Tayo Ang Ligaya Ng Isa’t Isa” was released, giving us a glimpse of the talented artists who lent their voices for the 2022 holiday anthem.

As the media company has already launched 20 Christmas IDs in the past two decades since its introduction in 2002, we recently asked some of our Kapamilya artists which among those are their top favorite. Watch this video to find out their responses and the reasons behind their choices, as well as their samples!

Just like, arguably, the ardent Kapamilya fans and those who avidly anticipate the Christmas ID of ABS-CBN every year, the top pick for our celebrities is “Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko” from 2009. Its LSS-inducing lyrics and melody and clear message that our faith in God is the true meaning of this significant celebration truly make it remarkable.

Concert King Martin Nievera loved it because it’s the very first time when the Kapamilya talents were complete and it paved the way for the company to create and release theme songs in every season. It’s also memorable for Magandang Buhay host Melai Cantiveros since it was her first time ever to be included in the station ID of ABS-CBN, alongside her Pinoy Big Brother Double Up housemates then.

ASAP Natin ‘To regulars Erik Santos, Jed Madela, Angeline Quinto, and Charlie Dizon also chose it, the same with Mars Ravelo’s Darna stars Janella Salvador and Joshua Garcia; Love In 40 Days cast members Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, and Andi Abaya; It’s Showtime host Anne Curtis; and Seth Fedelin. Meanwhile, we were not quite surprised when Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual picked it, too, since he was among its singers.

A Family Affair lead actor Gerald Anderson recounted how truly impressed he was with how splendidly shot his part was with some members of the Philippine Coast Guard in the 2012 station ID “Lumiliwanag Ang Mundo Sa Kwento Ng Pasko”, so it has become his easy favorite. And four years later, he joined the agency in 2016 and eventually became its Auxiliary Commander in 2021.

On the other hand, it’s the 2013 station ID “Magkasama Tayo Sa Kuwento Ng Pasko” for Sam Milby. Filming it might be a challenge for him since it was indeed sweltering hot, yet he still found it notable because not only the artists were present, but the bosses and other employees of the company, too.

Real-life besties and ASAP Natin ‘To mainstays AC Bonifacio and Darren Espanto both picked “Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo” from 2014 as it marked remarkable milestones in their respective lives. For AC, it was her last Christmas in Canada before heading to the Philippines to join Dance Kids, in which she and her friend Lucky Ancheta were proclaimed the winners. Meanwhile, for Darren, it’s basically because he and his fellow The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1 Top 4 finalists were among the artists who sang it.

For Iza Calzado, it would be 2015’s “Thank Your For The Love” as she really couldn’t forget her interaction with the members of the community she visited as part of the station ID. Meanwhile, despite already being an artist abroad, PBB 737 alumnus Bailey May still knows the lyrics to the said hymn, as it was when he began his showbiz journey.

Since it was in 2018 when Francine Diaz’s acting career really took off, that year’s “Family Is Love” will always have a special place in her heart. It was the first time that she became part of a Christmas station ID and felt that she truly belonged as she was in one place with other Kapamilya stars.

Unlike his loveteam partner Andi Abaya, Kobie Brown picked “Family Is Forever” from 2019 and even sang a bit of it. Kyle Echarri also had the same choice, as well as on-screen sweethearts Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, who both got nostalgic as they reminisced about how everything then was still “normal” and all the Kapamilya artists were in the same studio.

Due to the series of hard-hitting ordeals that we all went through in 2020, Ogie Alcasid considers “Ikaw Ang Liwanag at Ligaya” as the most meaningful ABS-CBN Christmas ID. It reminded him of his father’s passing and how we’re able to hurdle through the pandemic and other circumstances that year. Another thing that made it unforgettable was having to do the music video from the comforts of their homes.

It was also Moira Dela Torre’s pick, as well as the 2021 Kapamilya Christmas ID “Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t Isa”. The same goes for Jolina Magdangal, as she considers it a perfect everyday anthem and it reflects how she is towards her loved ones and other people around her. It also has a special place in the heart of Jameson Blake, and never fails to make him feel kiligi every time he remembers it since he was the first one to appear in that station ID.

And while we’re all waiting for the “Tayo Ang Ligaya ng Isa’t Isa” lyric video that is yet to be released on November 11, let us know which among the past ABS-CBN Christmas IDs still gives you joy and makes you sing your hearts out whenever you hear it at present, by joining our Kapamilya Poll.
