When we listen to anecdotes about actors’ showbiz journey, one thing we’re always eager to hear is how they got their big break. Some celebrities get their life-changing break in the form of a hit teleserye or an iconic role; while some found theirs through the help of a co-star or a friend.

They’re great reminders that life can create your future in a way you could’ve never imagined, and that’s why it’s only important to seize every opportunity when they appear.

We asked the hosts of Kapamilya show “It’s Your Lucky Day” about their luckiest break in showbiz. Check out their answers in the video!

“Pinoy Big Brother” has helped many artists get a start in showbiz, like Seth Fedelin who became a housemate in 2018. He has since appeared in popular teleseryes, making his debut in “Kadenang Ginto” where he first worked with now-loveteam partner Francine Diaz. As for Francine, while she started as a child actress in various teleseryes, she considers “Kadenang Ginto” as her biggest break.

Melai Cantiveros also entered the industry via “Pinoy Big Brother” on its third main season where she emerged as the Big Winner. But she thinks her luckiest breakthrough came via Magandang Buhay, “No’ng nag-‘Magandang Buhay’ ako, parang do’n ko na-realize na iba talaga si Lord mag-plan sa life mo. No’ng nag-Magandang Buhay ako, naging comfortable ako sa showbiz, hindi na parang urong-sulong at nahihiya.”

Long Mejia, who started as an extra or bit player, says that he got his career-changing break in ABS-CBN where he did iconic sitcoms such as “Home Along Da Airport” with the late Comedy King, Dolphy.

While Negi found his first home as a comedian in comedy bars, it’s fascinating how much luck went into him when he became friends with Vice Ganda, who was instrumental in jumpstarting his TV career. Apart from Vice, Luis Manzano helped shape his success in the mainstream as well. The bonus part is he’s found true friends in them. “Super starstruck! Hindi ko aakalain na hindi lang kami magiging magkatrabaho pero magiging mabuti rin kaming magkakaibigan,” he shared.

After years of hiatus and having gone through challenging times in life, at what point do you just give up? Jennica Garcia has said before that she almost decided to leave showbiz for good, but a stroke of luck came via “Dirty Linen,” her comeback vehicle and first Kapamilya show. “Pakiramdam ko po, kung hindi dahil sa ‘Dirty Linen,’ hindi po siguro ako makakabalik sa pag-aartista,” she mused.

Luis started his career as a model and later ventured into hosting and acting. He’s been here for quite a long time already, but he considers every new project – currently, “It’s Your Lucky Day”– as a big break.

Indeed, lucky moments may come by surprise, that’s why it is said that we should always grab every opportunity when they arrive.
