From hitting the basketball court, walking on fashion runways, and gracing magazine covers, Zanjoe Marudo began his career in the local entertainment scene in 2006 by joining Pinoy Big Brother, wherein he stood out as one of the most favorite housemates in the inaugural Celebrity Edition. Thus, it didn’t come as a surprise when he was hailed as its Fourth Big Placer and went on to skyrocket as one of the most sought-after leading men in the country.

Being among the finest stars of ABS-CBN, his Star Magic Ball stints in the previous years had been highly anticipated ever since its inception in 2007. He might have apparently preferred to show up in a classic suit and tie every year, yet he was still able to catch everyone’s attention, not to mention take home special recognitions because of how undeniably fascinating he’s always been!

As one of the first attendees of the star-studded gathering, he immediately turned heads as he deviated from the typical formal wear by wearing a uniquely structured coat and a spiky hairdo reminiscent of his character in the kiddie serye Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis named Super Islaw.

In the next three stagings of the Star Magic Ball, Zanjoe opted for black-on-black ensembles. In 2008, he put a silky touch to his outfit as he donned on a slim-fit coat with black silk peak lapel and trousers with black silk linings. His black necktie was silk, too! That look earned him the Male Junior Stardust Award that night opposite his Dyosa co-star Anne Curtis.

Zanjoe might have appeared as if he just came out of bed with his scruffy appearance in 2009, but his all-black get-up absolutely matched the champagne gown of his ex-flame and ball date that year, Mariel Rodriguez. Thus, they took home the Classic Chic Couple of the Night accolade.

The following year, he put on a black button-up shirt that he paired with a double-breasted vest that featured a two-peak fold pocket square and black trousers, which brought him the Most Stylish Award in 2010.

It was only in the fifth Star Magic Ball in 2011 when he remarkably made changes in his overall look. He began to depart from all-black outfits by putting a tinge of other colors in his ensembles. That year, he traded his squeaky-clean look to scruffy-handsome as he grew stubble, as well as replaced the necktie with a silver bowtie, which apparently worked their magic. He bagged the Moet & Chandon Award, the prize bestowed to the most fashionable couple that evening.

After months of showing off his well-toned bod on-screen in the afternoon drama Precious Hearts Romances Presents Hiyas as he portrayed the lead role of Silang, Zanjoe looked entirely different during the 2012 Star Magic Ball as he was clothed in a dapper suit that he topped of with a white bowtie.

From 2013 to 2017, he opted for the classic formal attire for male, which is the black and white tuxedo. While he wore jackets in either cotton or polyester from 2013 to 2015, he arrived at the event in a velvet blazer with peak lapel in 2016, which won him the Best Dressed Male Award. And in 2017, he looked like a true maginoo in his Gucci suit.

Certainly, many are looking forward to see how Zanjoe Marudo will catch everyone’s attention anew as he’s expected to parade in the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball on September 30!
