Well, speaking of TV shows and sharing our fondest experiences, Tabing Ilog is one of the most well-loved series that forever dominated the Philippine pop culture and you probably got too devoted to during its four-year run from 1999 to 2003.

Believe it or not, it’s been exactly 21 years since we first met the eight teenagers who accompanied us in our lazy Sunday afternoon siesta. Tabing Ilog followed the story of best friends Anne de Guzman (Paula Peralejo), James Collantes (Patrick Garcia), Corrine Ledesma (Desiree del Valle), Badong Magtibay (Paolo Contis), George Fuentebella (Jodi Sta. Maria), Fonzy Ledesma (Baron Geisler), Eds Delos Santos (Kaye Abad), and Rovic Mercado (John Lloyd Cruz), and how their friendship helped each one of them to conquer the challenges of adolescence.

The weekly series didn’t only amuse and thrill the viewers with their adventures and the romances sparked among them, but it also opened the eyes of everyone regarding the prevalent issues confronted by the teenagers during that era. Tabing Ilog tackled how the personal angst and problems of young people take a toll not only to themselves, but also to their relationships with their families, with one another, with their other friends, and with the other people they encountered along the way.
