When Negi and Petite graced “Stars on Stars,” they proved why they’re one of the most ‘chaotic’ yet lovable duos in the industry. From the moment the show began, they had the audience in stitches, joking that the show was "without a host" and bouncing off each other’s energy like seasoned comedy pros.

The dynamic duo didn’t waste time launching into playful debates, starting with the age-old question: Zombie or Vampire? Petite, known for his self-deprecating humor, quipped that he’d never choose to be a vampire because “he doesn’t have a neck.” Negi, on the other hand, said he’d choose to be a vampire, leaning into the fantasy of turning into one.

When asked if they’d prefer to star in a commercial or a movie, their answers reflected their different perspectives. Petite humorously justified his choice of movies, saying, “Pelikula, kasi ‘yung pelikula kahit lumang-luma pa ‘yun, pwede buhayin, talaga. ‘Yung commercial kasi ‘di ba may mga nawawala na produkto.” Negi, however, stuck with commercials.

Their banter deepened as they tackled hypothetical life choices. Would they rather win the lottery or meet their soulmate? Negi was all about finding love, while Petite, ever practical, and would take the jackpot, preferring financial security. A similar divide arose when asked “Mahal mo o Mahal ka?” Petite, however, admitted that he’d rather be loved, expressing, “Ako ang gusto ko, mahal ako kasi laging lang ako nagbibigay ng pagmamahal.”

Beyond the jokes, Negi and Petite opened up about the weight they carry in their personal lives, revealing the layers behind their on-screen personas. While audiences know them as comedic giants, they shared that happiness is a conscious choice.

The conversation shifted to their childhood, offering a glimpse into the grit and perseverance that shaped them. Both reflected on how hard growing up can be, with Petite and Negi advising kids to enjoy their youth and not rush into adulthood.

Their paths to comedy were equally fascinating. Petite recalled meeting MC Mwah back in 2000. MC invited him to join a comedy bar, and the rest is history. Negi, meanwhile, never dreamed of being a comedian. He initially performed in lip-sync contests and worked in the family business of deboning bangus before fate brought him to the stage.

When asked about times their jokes don’t hit the mark, Petite admitted that not all of their material works. He frequently turns to his fellow comedians for feedback and advice. Negi, reflecting on his journey, said that performing on the big screen taught him to be more mindful of his humor, making sure that no one is hurt by his jokes.

Negi also opened up about questioning his purpose after his father’s death. He admitted to struggling with his sense of identity during that time. Petite, too, shared his love for family and the significance of being a breadwinner, with both of them highlighting the weight of their responsibilities.

Despite their struggles, they both agreed that life is about endurance, with Petite adding, “Parang ang buhay ng tao ay isang pelikula. Mamimili ka lang dyan kung happy ending, o hindi magandang ending, ang gusto mong mangyayari sa buhay mo. Kaya dapat lagi ka lang kakapit kahit napakabigat.”

Their friendship, a cornerstone of their success, was also a point of discussion. Petite proudly said he never felt jealous of Negi’s projects because he believes Negi deserves all his success.

They expressed their deep gratitude to Vice Ganda, whom they both consider more than just a friend. Vice, they said, is like a mother, sibling, and best friend, someone who has guided them through the industry while sharing the spotlight.

By the end of the interview, it was clear that Negi and Petite’s bond was unshakeable. Petite expressed his immense gratitude to Negi, saying, “Sobrang thank you sa lahat. Kasi, lagi akong damay sa plano niya. Halimbawa, may TV show siya, friend, pini-pitch niya ako lagi. Hindi man ako maging kasama niya sa hosting, kahit guest, sobrang na-appreciate ko ‘yun. Kaya, wala akong ingit na nararamdaman. Kasi alam ko, nakasabay ako sa plano niya.”

Negi and Petite showed that behind the laughter lies a deep, genuine friendship and a shared love for life, family, and each other. Through the ups and downs, they remind us that the key to surviving both the industry and life is finding happiness in every moment, no matter how heavy the burden
