Love is a powerful force that we can sometimes be blinded by. We don’t recognize that the love has turned into a world of hurt, which can be dangerous to hold on to. So, when that time comes, will you be able to see past it? Will you be able to move on?

Alyssa’s love story with Jordan, which is featured in the Dear MOR’s Celebrity Specials episode “Marupok Yarn,” is heartbreaking at first, but turns into an inspiring story of moving on.

Alyssa (Seham Daghlas) had been in a relationship with Jordan (Zach Guerrero) for about three years already. They weren’t perfect, but they were happy. She initially had doubts about Jordan since he was quite a playboy in the past, but she got over this after years of working on their relationship.

However, these doubts began creeping in again. The first sign was when her friend called her up and told her that she found Jordan on a dating site. Alyssa found it weird since she knew Jordan deleted his profile when they began dating. Choosing to trust Jordan, she brushed it off as a technical glitch.

Few more signs slowly surfaced such as his passenger’s motorcycle helmet smelling like a woman’s shampoo or his suspicious meet-ups. Jordan had a reason for each one when Alyssa would ask about it, so she chose to just believe them.

Unfortunately, her biggest fear was confirmed when she was staying at Jordan’s. A woman came by looking for Jordan and Alyssa already had an inkling that she was more than just a friend, so she just sent her away by saying Jordan wasn’t home. Going back inside the house, Alyssa saw that the girl had been messaging Jordan and saying things like “I miss you” with kisses.

Immediately, Alyssa confronted Jordan. He tried making excuses, but Alyssa refused to be a fool anymore. After experiencing countless heartaches and broken promises with him before, Alyssa finally decided to end it once and for all.

A heartbroken Alyssa turned to her friend Rhea for help to move on. Not wanting Alyssa to fall into the trap of getting back with Jordan, Rhea advised that Alyssa unfriend and block him so that she has no way of contacting him. Alyssa didn’t want to do it, being the wishful and “marupok” girl she is. But Rhea put her foot down and did the unfriending and blocking herself.

Alyssa tried to go on with her life, but the moment she found herself missing Jordan, she friended and unblocked him. While checking his profile, Jordan contacted her and she agreed to meet up with him to find closure to their breakup.

During their meet-up, Jordan tried explaining his case and winning Alyssa back. But Alyssa stayed firm that she didn’t want this version of Jordan that hasn’t changed. Jordan told her that, despite everything, he really loved her and parted with something more than a kiss.

Because of that one moment of passion, Alyssa hoped and prayed that Jordan would still come back, but it seems that it was already a total goodbye. Struggling to move on, Alyssa turned to Rhea again. While Rhea was disappointed with what Alyssa did, she advised Alyssa to start throwing or stashing away the things that reminded her of Jordan.

Alyssa began collecting all the mementos and gifts she received from Jordan. While putting away a book, some petals from a flower Jordan gave fell out of the pages. Alyssa somehow wanted to preserve the petals, and that’s when she discovered resin art for flower preservation.

Resin art became a hobby of hers and a good distraction to stop her from thinking about Jordan. Slowly, she turned her hobby into a business, even making social media pages to promote it.

At one point, even Jordan took notice of it. He called up Alyssa using a new number and congratulated her. Taking advantage of the situation, he also tried to spark something again with her. Alyssa had a difficult time finding the words to say because she was still moving on, but she didn’t let herself get swayed by his sweet words. She stopped Jordan from doing whatever he was trying to do and made it clear that she didn’t want to talk to him again because she wants to choose herself from now on.

Alyssa still cried her heart out, but she stayed firm on prioritizing herself. She has chosen self-love and is pursuing her own dreams, including making her resin art hobby a bigger venture.

DJ Popoy and DJ Bea acknowledged the reality that sometimes people can be “marupok” or easily swayed when it comes to love, so they reminded listeners to be smart and use their heads over their emotions. It took a while for Alyssa to change, but it’s good that she finally realized that self-love should come first. If you know how to love yourself, then you understand how others should love and respect you as well.

Celeb voice actors Seham and Zach also saw the errors in their characters and hope listeners learn a thing or two from Alyssa and Jordan’s story. Nonetheless, these former Pinoy Big Brother housemates enjoyed their first acting project together.
