Love grows when there’s honesty in everything – in words and actions, even if that means having to call each other out. This topic is tackled in the finale episode of Love Bites Season 2 titled “Honest Love.”

Here at Kapamilya Chat, we talked to “Honest Love” stars Majoy Apostol and Jomari Angeles about their take on honesty and trust in a relationship, as well as cheating and second chances, and ending Love Bites on a high note.

Majoy and Jomari feel blessed and thrilled. Just to star in Love Bites is already a feat, but to have their episode chosen as the season-ender makes the excitement much higher. It was also a breeze working on this episode, as they already played lovers in a previous project.

In Love Bites: “Honest Love,” they play a married couple haunted by issues that they failed to sift through in the past because they weren’t vocal to each other. Jomari’s character, Jim, is naturally reserved, pushing doubts into his wife, Abi (Majoy)’s mind.

“Sa relationship, ‘pag ‘yung nangyari sa past hindi ninyo na-settle, dala-dala n’yo ‘yan hanggang present,” Majoy mused, to which Jomari added, “Kasi magbi-build up ang mga problema ‘pag may tinatago kayo sa isa’t isa.”

By that, they mean being honest with oneself as well. It’s about self-awareness, said Jomari when asked their definition of honest love. Mix honesty with communication and you get the recipe for a lasting relationship. This applies not just to romance, but relationships with family and friends.

They believe that there are lies that can never be forgiven, like cheating on a partner. No excuses, as Majoy puts it. Jomari seconded, “Sa una, siyempre, magso-sorry sila, magmaakaawa sila, pero ‘pag na-forgive mo, may tendency na uulitin nila.”

Asked their message to the real people they played, Jomari told Jim, “Sa susunod na pagkakataon, i-open up mo na agad kung may dinadala ka, kung may problema ka. Kasi mahirap kung iniipon mo lang, eh. Baka mamaya pumutok ka na lang tapos madadamay pa ‘yung asawa mo o magiging anak mo. Hindi maganda ‘yung resulta.”

Meanwhile, Majoy would like to advise Abi to fix the problem right away. “Siguro hindi na nila dapat pinapatagal ‘yung isang bagay o issue ng ilang years kung pwede naman nila pag-usapan on the spot.” She continued, “Pwede naman maghintay kung kailangan n’yo ng days o time pero sana mas okay kung hindi siya tumatagal nang ganon katagal. Kasi minsan pag tumatagal, mas lalong bumibigat.”
