The second episode of MOR Entertainment's Dear MOR Celebrity Specials, titled “It’s a Match,” brings us a dating app success story – but not without the twists and turns that will elicit all kinds of ‘feels.’ Although a cute rom-com on the surface, the episode touches on dating red flags that we should take seriously.

After swiping left and right on a dating app, the always-attracted-to-red-flags Jamaica (Kiara Takahashi) finally found a seemingly perfect match, Russel. (Benedix Ramos). The guy is sweet to the core. For starters, he loves surprises like taking her on road trips. He writes poetry for Jamaica and read one at their friend’s party. He insists to get the meat off her chicken wings, well, if you consider these gestures sweet than overwhelming. For Jamaica, it’s the latter.

Their special friendship seems to be moving at lightning speed – too good to be true, as she described in the letter. Coming from mostly toxic relationships in the past, she thought Russel’s too sweet to handle. So, she started ignoring his calls and grew cold until the “break up” happened.

Seven months later, Jamaica tried her luck to find another match online. She met Clifford, the guy who turned her life into a big adventure, despite the red flags spotted by her friend Sheena. Just as when she’s become sure of her feelings, Jamaica found out that Clifford is just into games and false promises.

Ready to get back out there again, Jamaica joined a dating event where she got matched with the mystery guy who, as fate would have it, turned out to be Russel. It was an awkward but kilig reunion! The two caught up over chicken wings and took things slow from there. Jamaica and Russel officially became a couple in 2019 and are still going strong.

“It’s a Match” is a cute rom-com that proves “may forever” in the world of online dating. We may have some ‘ha?’ moments tagging along with Jamaica in her story, but if we think about it, she has the right to set boundaries. And not even the seemingly perfect Mr. Romantic has the license to go beyond one’s personal space.

We’re deeply enamoured with Kiara and Benedix’s heavenly voices. In a quick interview shown at the end of the video, the tandem said lending their voices to Dear MOR: Celebrity Specials was a challenging yet fun experience. To break the ice, the two found comfort in music and jammed together to warm up their vocal muscles.
