Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards sat down with ABS-CBN News MJ Felipe in Canada for a special “On Cue” interview. The two stars, still glowing from the brisk air of Calgary, are at the heart of the highly anticipated film “Hello Love Again,” set to grace theaters this November 13. With palpable excitement, they opened up about the memorable experiences while filming in Canada.

MJ, eager to catch up with the duo, asked, “How’s Canada so far?” Alden was quick to respond, sharing a glimpse into their 12-day journey on set, “So much love from Calgary, especially the Filipino community here.” Kath remarked. “Like today part 'yong iba ng scenes.”

The interview soon delved into the challenges they faced during the shoot. For Alden, the weather was an ever-present dilemma, particularly during outdoor scenes. Kathryn, on the other hand, shared her ‘struggles.’ Fresh from the success of “A Very Good Girl,” she found herself in need of a moment to regain her momentum. “Medyo nag-adjust lang ako, ginuide naman nila ako” she admitted, grateful for the guidance and support from the team.

What made this film stand out for both of them was its contrast from their previous collaboration, “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” They admitted the script was vastly different, yet they felt the chemistry between them was much more natural this time. “Sakto rin ‘yung dynamics namin ngayon, and where we are now sa hinihingi ng ‘Hello Love Again,’” Kathryn shared with a smile, clearly satisfied with how their relationship has evolved both on and off screen.

MJ, watching them work with the acclaimed director Cathy Garcia-Molina, was curious about the intensity of the process. He asked if the scenes felt as intense as they looked. Alden and Kathryn both laughed, explaining that while they had already filmed the heavy scenes, the current shoot was more relaxed. However, they recalled one particular scene that took nearly five hours to complete due to its complexity and the size of the crowd. “Hindi niya tinatapos na for the sake of kailangan matapos so 'yong quality talaga," They explained, illustrating just how meticulous their director is.

Despite the rigorous schedule, the two found brief moments of downtime. They talked about roaming around, going to the gym, and even squeezing in a coffee break. Kathryn laughed, mentioning how they had dinner with Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez on one of their free nights.

MJ then shifted to a more personal question, one that had been circulating online while the two were away. “How close are you two now?” he asked. Alden’s response was telling. “Ngayon lang talaga namin nakilala ‘yung isa’t isa,” he said, noting that, unlike their first collaboration, they now had the time to talk and build a stronger bond. Kathryn agreed, describing their current relationship as one of deep comfort and trust. “Nandun kami sa stage na very comfortable na you can talk about anything, ask him or you know parang magkaibigan," she added.

Alden even made it a point to attend Kathryn’s intimate birthday celebration on a yacht, despite his hectic schedule. Kathryn smiled at the memory, appreciating Alden’s efforts to make it despite his commitments. It was a moment that highlighted just how far their friendship had come.

Toward the end of the interview, MJ playfully asked them to rate how close they have become on a scale from 1 to 100. Alden, with a thoughtful grin, answered, “85.” He explained that they could now talk about things they never had the chance to before, and that level of trust had brought them even closer.

As the conversation wound down, MJ posed one final question: What can fans expect from “Hello Love Again”? Alden took a moment to reflect before answering, “Ngayon lang talaga namin nakilala ‘yung isa't isa kasi before ‘yung HLG parang wala namang ganitong chance to really talk to each other and then mas comfortable and familiar na like what i've said 'yun yung parang nagiging way namin to make this film even more effective."

Kathryn, however, chose to remain modest, but she said that they poured their hearts into the project without any pressure to meet expectations. What she did promise was a story filled with hard work, love, and respect for the lives of overseas Filipino workers. For both stars, the goal was not just to entertain but to represent these untold stories with authenticity and care.
