Last December 9, fans and fellow celebrities of Jovit Baldivino woke up to the extremely shocking and saddening news that the remarkably talented Kapamilya singer and actor has passed away at the age of 29 due to stroke complications at a hospital in Batangas.

Apparently, up to his final days on earth, he still wanted to spread happiness and entertain other people through his astounding vocal talent, which we initially witnessed during his victorious stint in Pilipinas Got Talent Season 1 in 2010. From being a young man who helped his family make both ends meet by selling siomai at a market after school, Jovit went on to become one of the bankable and well-loved artists of his generation.

As we pay tribute to the remarkably talented Kapamilya singer-actor, let us reminisce about some of his most memorable moments on various ABS-CBN programs through the years in this special feature!

His ticket to stardom was by joining Pilipinas Got Talent Season 1 more than a decade ago, wherein he immediately astounded us with his powerful voice during the auditions. He eventually won the competition with his rendition of Queen’s “Too Much Love Will Kill You” and became one of the promising Kapamilya talents at the age of 16.

After his win, Jovit became a regular performer in ASAP until 2018, through which he’s able to further showcase his singing prowess. He never failed to wow us with his on-point covers of some of our favorite rock ballads over the years, such as the Bon Jovi hits “I’ll Be There For You” and “Bed of Roses” that he performed during his head-to-head rocktastic vocal showdown with Power Rakista and The Voice Philippines Season 1 grand winner Mitoy Yonting in June 2018.

It was also in 2010 when he appeared in the musical drama 1DOL as himself, then landed a supporting role in the teen drama series Growing Up ] in 2011. On that year, he was recognized as the “Promising Singer/Performer of the Year” by GMMSF Box-office Entertainment Awards. In 2013, he was tapped to sing “Pusong Bato”, the official soundtrack of the superhero series Juan Dela Cruz, as well as of the Dugong Buhay OST “Pagsubok”.

2013 seemed to be a busy one for him as he was one of the interpreters of the songwriting contest Himig Handog that year. He was assigned the original song “Sana’y Magbalik” that was written by composer and band vocalist Arman Alferez.

Jovit guested as well in various Kapamilya talk shows to promote his projects and albums, just like what he did in an episode of Aquino & Abunda Tonight in 2015. Of course, that guesting didn’t end without him giving a sample of one of his songs off his fourth album, as requested by host Kris Aquino

A few months later, he graced an episode of It’s Showtime to spread kilig vibes to the madlang people as he sang the April Boy Regino hit “Honey My Love So Sweet”.

He was also able to show off his comedic side and amuse us with how he knew the song “12 Days of Christmas” during his guesting in Gandang Gabi Vice alongside Bugoy Drilon and Marcelito Pomoy a few years ago, as host Vice Ganda had them play the fun and exciting lyric game. Besides, they had us dancing to our feet through their rendition of popular Justin Bieber songs.

In 2016, the late rock balladeer also took part in reality music competition We Love OPM, in which he was grouped with Bugoy Drilon and Dominador Aviola. They were called “Tres Kantos” and was mentored by Erik Santos.

He returned to It’s Showtime in 2020 as the celebrity tago-kanta for its “Hide And Sing” segment, much to the surprise and delight of its host, guest players, and even the viewers. Alongside Tawag ng Tanghalan contenders Renz Ian Ranque and Carlo Jorge, he sang “Mahal Pa Rin Kita” by Rockstar.

Jovit may have gone too soon, but his passion, music, and memories are surely engraved in the hearts and minds of his supporters, family, friends, and colleagues, who fondly regard him as a good person in-and-out of the spotlight. Rest in peace, Jovit.
