“Sa inyo ay totoo, ang Pasko ang pinakamagandang kwento.”

Kapamilya netizens express how this particular line from this year’s ABS-CBN Christmas anthem entitled “Pasko Ang Pinakamagandang Kuwento” has left them having LSS (or last song syndrome), after the 2023 Christmas Special ID was released on Friday, December 1.

The 21st Christmas ID ever released by the media company ever since this annual tradition started in 2002, the lyrics – written both in English and Tagalog – remind us of the real reason for the season, which is the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ thousands of years ago and how it has become a prelude to lot of great stories and miracles.

The almost 14-minute music video commenced with a digitally-generated pop-up book that bears the title of the song and reveals the nativity scene. It’s Showtime’s “Batang Cute-po” and up-and-rising young singer Imogen Cantong is the perfect way to begin this heartwarming hymn.

Among the artists who lent their voices are Piolo Pascual, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Coco Martin, Vice Ganda, Gary Valenciano, Jolina Magdangal, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Belle Mariano, Donny Pangilinan, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Darren Espanto, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Kyle Echarri, Juan Karlos Labajo, Yeng Constantino, Jed Madela, KZ Tandingan, Erik Santos, Moira Dela Torre, Klarisse de Guzman, Angeline Quinto, Jona, Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 6 grand winner Lyka Estrella, and Idol Philippines Season 2 champion Khimo Gumatay.

The first group to appear is comprised of executive and actress Charo Santos-Concio, alongside ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo and ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management Robert Labayen.

Succeeding them are the batches of Kapamilya artists who represent the television show/s they are in. These include the ensemble cast of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Can’t Buy Me Love, Senior High, It’s Showtime, Pira-Pirasong Paraiso, Nag-aapoy na Damdamin, TV Patrol, Linlang, Dirty Linen, It’s Your Lucky Day, I Can See Your Voice, Fractured, ASAP Natin ‘To, and The Iron Heart.

Homegrown Kapamilya Pinoy Pop groups BINI and BGYO also graced the Christmas special ID, the same with some of the artists and people working behind Star Music, fast-rising talents of RISE Artists Studios, reporters from ABS-CBN News, MOR disc jockeys from different parts of the Philippines, and the Star Magic artists along with their head, Director Laurenti Dyogi.

We were also given a glimpse of what during the Kapamilya Christmas Fair in Marikina City, wherein several Kapamilya stars and brand partners spread happiness to our beloved Kapamilyas. Superbook’s friendly robot Gizmo, Team Yey Kids, and PIE Channel hosts were among those who were present at the event.

Kapamilya A-listers also made it to the annual tradition, as they’re seen parading on the hallways of ABS-CBN alongside Kapamilya employees. Among them are Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Angelica Panganiban, Kathryn Bernardo, Jane de Leon, Iza Calzado, Joshua Garcia and Jodi Sta. Maria, and leading men Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, and Arjo Atayde.

“G Diaries” hosts Ernie and Michelle Lopez appeared together, too, as well as ABS-CBN top executives Carlo L. Katigbak, Mark L. Lopez, and Cory V. Vidanes, who later on opened the Christmas lights of the simple yet colorful and embellished Christmas tree erected at the capacious open area of ABS-CBN compound where everyone who partook in the music converged and sang along to the inspiring and LSS-inducing tune.

Filipino families and communities from different parts of the country and of the world also took part this year. These groups of overseas Filipinos include Hori7on, the all-Pinoy boy band formed in the survival reality show Dream Maker that’s currently based in South Korea where they undergo training to become global idols.

Aside from our beloved Kapamilya celebrities, there were also non-showbiz personalities included in the Christmas Special ID, namely, a couple who’s blessed with their first child after their miscarriage, a deaf family, an LGBTQIA+ couple who are advocates for mental health and animal welfare, a couple who has been together for 43 years, a man who juggles his studies with his job as a janitor, and a single mom and foster parent to two children.

Making this year’s Christmas ID special, monumental, and historic are the appearances of TV networks GMA, TV5, and A2Z, as well as of streaming platforms Viu and Amazon Prime, which are represented by the Kapamilya stars who are part of the programs that were broadcast through them, along with several of their employees.

Approaching the end of the Christmas Special ID, the camera focused on some of the biggest stars of the ABS-CBN, with Sarah and Imogen as the last celebrities to appear.

Written by Robert G. Labayen and Lawrence Arvin A. Sibug, with Jonathan Manalo as the overall in-charge of music production and Paolo Ramos as the director, “Pasko Ang Pinakamagandang Kuwento” is indeed a reminder for us that many of the great stories and miracles we’ve witnessed in our lives are inspired by the significant event that started it all many years ago. We may be hounded by challenges, problems, and negativities at present, but the stories of love, harmony, and joy are always going to prevail and will bind and shine with us.

A few hours after its premiere, the Christmas Special ID has already amassed millions of combined views both from the official YouTube channel and social media pages of ABS-CBN. The hashtags #PaskoAngPinakamagandangKwento and #ABSCBNChristmasSID2023, along with other topics related to the Christmas SID launch, also made it to the top trending topics of X (formerly Twitter).
