Noel Colet’s trivia about Coco Martin

Jerome Ponce and Noel Colet’s stints in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano might have been short, but it was definitely sweet, and unforgettable. Not only did they become part of a legacy but also formed good friendships with respected actors.

Watch this Kapamilya Chat episode where they shared their memorable moments in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, plus trivia about their co-stars like Coco Martin and Lorna Tolentino.

The actors feel ‘sepanx’ as much as viewers do. Jerome, whose character died in the recent encounter, said he would miss all, especially his yoga buddy Rowell Santiago.

He also shared about his on-screen commander Geoff Eigenmann, whom he described as a cool guy, quiet, and very patient.

Noel, playing Vice President Camilo Edades, shared most scenes with the show’s ultimate villainess, Lorna Tolentino aka Lily. He said the veteran actress we see on screen is a stark contrast to the Lorna they bond with off-cam. He vouched for her kindness and generosity, “’Yung totoong persona ni Ms. LT, napakabait na tao. Siya mag-o-offer ng ride sa akin ‘pag wala akong ride. Ang dami niyang food na pinapakain sa amin, pati ‘yung ice candy. ‘Yung character na Lily, character niya lang talaga ‘yun. In person, napakabait na tao.”

Noel got acting tips from Lorna since they shared many scenes, ”Very touching ‘yung pag-support niya. ‘Pag mahirap ang eksena minsan nagbibigay siya ng advice. Dama mo talaga na napapaganda niya ‘yung performance mo.”

Noel, who also works as an assistant director in commercials, got the same amount of support from Direk Rowell. Even John Arcilla helped hone his portrayal. He will also miss Tirso Cruz III, their Zumba leader.

The two feel honored – there’s no other way to put it – to be part of the longest-running teleserye.  Jerome thought sharing a project with the industry’s biggest names is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Noel is overwhelmed to have that gift of touching people’s lives by being part of the show. “Napaka-powerful ng mga linya at scenes kung paano nila ginagawa. So, napakaraming naapektuhan na mga tao. Parang ang galing ng pag-story-tell na naapektuhan mismo ‘yung buhay ng mga tao, marami silang natutunan na mga aral. To be part, instrumental ka rin para makapagturo, makapagparamdam ng ganito, maibahagi mo ‘yung emosyon mo sa kanila. Ang sarap ng feeling na naging parte ka ng buhay nila,” he said.

He accepted the role right away and is happy with the exposure he’s been given. Noel mentioned he took inspiration from his politician relatives in taking on the role.

As for Jerome, his previous experiences as a trainee in A Soldier’s Heart added to his portrayal of Black Ops officer Capt. Adrian Jimenez in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

When he got on the set, the makeup team tried to transform his looks fit for a ‘kontrabida’ but he still looked innocent, and from there, they just let his character have a bit of conscience at first until he totally sided with Lily’s evil group alongside Geoff’s Major Albert de Vela.

Jerome enjoyed taking on the gunfight scenes, albeit challenging. One of his favorites is the hard battle between Black Ops and the rebel group led by Charo Santos’ Ramona. “Doon ko na-feel ‘yung total pagod ng lahat. Sobrang nakakapagod ‘yun, unlike dito nasa loob kami, urban fight. ‘’Yung kay Ma’am Charo na camp, talagang gubat na gubat ‘yun, so naramdaman ko do’n lahat, sigawan, and all, crouching, kneeling, and everyday 6 AM to 6 PM kami lagi, sobrang tutok sa arawan,” he looked back.

Although he had no scenes with Charo, he was able to talk with her and saw how much she’s like a fairy godmother, “She’s glowing inside and out whenever she talks, whenever her presence is there. Ang sarap niya kabiruan. She’s proud na may action scenes siya.”

Jerome and Noel have nothing but good things to say about Coco Martin, their co-actor and director. They noted his being professional and focused. Coco is never distracted during work but finds time to bond with his teammates.

Noel specifically commends Coco’s spontaneity, which is one reason behind the series’ never-ending thrill, “On the set iniisip ‘yung lines. Pero sabi ko kay Coco, the greater part that you are doing is that you’re part of the scene, not just the director, actor ka rin. Grabe! First time ako na-direk ng gano’n kagaling tapos impromptu lahat ng ginagawa. Napaka-artistic.”

Add to Coco’s long list of good qualities his patience, humility, and generosity toward his co-stars, “Alam niya kung paano susuportahan, how to make you work at your best. Alam niya kung kailan siya papasok to tell you how you can improve your craft.”

Although busy with multiple responsibilities in the series, Coco is disciplined enough to wake up before 5 AM daily to work out, revealed Noel, “Hanep sa disiplina! Regular din ako sa pisikal pero daig niya ako kasi very early in the morning, siguro ‘yun lang din ‘yung time niya, pero consistent. Ang galing! Bilib ako sa kanya as an action star, as a director, and as an actor.”
