An actor’s greatness is measured not just by the amount of tears they pour but especially by the impact they leave. It's no surprise everyone is wild about the performance of award-winning actress Rans Rifol even after her character, the betrayed wife Coleen, had bid farewell in A Family Affair.

Rans’ emotions were so palpable it was impossible not to cry with her. Every inch of her pain and anger, love and bitterness reeled viewers in. Didn’t you feel the weight of her anxiety that led to her shocking death? Let us look back on Rans’ best dramatic moments in A Family Affair via this Kapamilya Toplist.

For an ambitious woman like Coleen, the only thing that can make her mad is either her husband’s philandering or his lack of purpose. She berated Seb (Jake Ejercito) for not even trying to fight for his rights as an Estrella, and by that, she meant Seb must get into the mix of his brothers fighting over their father (Edu Manzano)’s wealth.

She had a miserable time begging him to man up for the two of them. The frustration was loud even in her quiet moments. When she told Seb that she stayed on the couch watching television all day because she was tired, we felt it’s not her body that’s tired, but her heart. She exhausted all her energy pushing Seb to bigger dreams but he won’t understand. Seb was as unhappy and frustrated as she is, leading to temptation.

Coleen’s world started to burn when Seb met Florabelle (Claire Ruiz). In the scene where she opened up her hunches to Cherry Red (Ivana Alawi) and when she threatened to kill the mistress once she finds out who she is, Rans made her character appear intimidating and pathetic.

One of her most gripping moments is when she caught the traitors kissing. Her anger was piercing through our screens, but her tears spoke of heart-wrenching pain. Coleen wanted to murder the mistress, or maybe her husband, but soon she would end up killing herself instead.

The affair would slowly destroy Coleen’s sanity until she is full of insecurities and doubts. But then again, she tried to save the marriage by being the most selfless wife to Seb, as she’s always been. In a scene, she gave him a massage after work to remind him that she never failed as a wife. Seb noticeably fought with guilt.

Don’t be fooled by her ‘probinsyana’ demeanor because Coleen can be feisty when needed. There was a scene where she confronted Florabelle and drank from the latter’s glass, saying that it tastes like her husband.

When Seb and Florabelle’s scandal spread across General Luna, Coleen’s reaction was magnificently heart-breaking. Apart from pain and anger, the amount of humiliation she got was too much to bear. It was only natural for her to explode into wrath. She said it could’ve been easier to deal with if Seb got honest about his feelings. She ran to Cherry Red for comfort, clueless that the leakage of Seb’s video is part of Cherry’s revenge.

Heeding Cherry’s advice to tail behind Seb anywhere, Coleen was shaken to the core when she spotted the traitors talking again. Cue in the confrontation extravaganza between the husband, wife, and mistress. Rans had her shining moment with her feisty, ‘gigil’ delivery of lines that sure resonated with every scorned woman. Rans’ performance was so satisfying it got us hooked from start to end, especially when she pushed Florabelle and called her names.

The final scene in this montage witnessed Coleen trembling with anxiety when Seb failed to pick up her calls, thinking he is spending time with his paramour again. Then, the nasty, humiliating comments she heard in the market replayed in her head like demons. The next morning, Seb went home to his wife’s lifeless body.

Coleen's death is just the beginning of A Family Affair's 'red ending.' Don't miss a episode of the hit teleserye on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
