Kenyo Street Fam: Winning Your Moment dancing title is to make their families proud

Just like how this crew highlights the word in its name, members of Kenyo Street Fam dedicated their scintillating title win as Your Moment Grand Dancing Champions to their respective families they would sadly leave behind in their quest for greatness.

WINNING MOMENTS: Kenyo Street Fam is the first ever Your Moment Grand Dancing Champion

This is their ultimate sacrifice, said Jemuel “Jim” Gojo-Cruz, the leader-choreographer of the triumphant dance crew out of Bulacan in an exclusive interview with Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com accompanied by the rest of the group after their resounding victory. He said they could not spend time with their families since they would toil at perfecting their difficult routines so they could earn their keep from their dance performances either in live shows or in competitions.

Above all, their main objective is to make their families proud.

Their final number was an astonishing after-life/funeral routine with well-coordinated, synchronized movements to the tune of Bone, Thugs N Harmony’s “Crossroads” that fascinated the cheering audience and the judges, who all gave them a standing ovation. Billy Crawford said they gave an immense surprise in their out of this world number, while Nadine Lustre said it was the best live performance she has ever seen. Boy Abunda, meanwhile, said it was “theater at its best,” commenting that no move is wrong if the heart is dancing and if the dance is about your story. He further said that wherever they go, they should never forget their way back home.

In choosing the style and theme of the performance, they chose something they were all familiar with and close to their hearts.

Winning their “Grand Moment” in the 2-in-1 reality talent competition was something they couldn’t believe in their wildest dreams, but Jim said they were so ecstatic accomplishing it as a group.

A big factor in their win, Jim noted, was guidance from their mentor, world hip-hop dancing champions Philippine All-Stars artistic director Lema Diaz.

Jim said they will use their two-million-peso cash prize to set-up their much-needed dance studio.

And for all Kenyo Street Fam’s supporters, Jim said, they owe their victory to them.
