A passionate kontesera but never the grand winner, just somewhere close to the ultimate prize – Klarisse De Guzman finally changed her game by winning as Your Face Sounds Familiar champion last Sunday, May 30. It was her third contest on national TV following The Voice of the Philippines and We Love OPM.
“Ito pala ‘yung feeling ng nag-champion kasi noon laging almost,” Klarisse mused in this episode of Kapamilya Chat. She remains over the moon but at the same time sad that Your Face Sounds Familiar has reached its finale.
Her performance as Patti Labelle singing “Over The Rainbow” garnered her a total score of 90 percent based on combined accumulated points from the jury and public votes. She said it was her first time singing Patti’s version of the popular song and a week’s worth of preparation has paid off.
“Pinag-aralan ko kung paano siya kumanta, pinakinggan ko nang paulit-ulit. ‘Yung nuances niya sa stage, with the help of my coaches and mentors siyempre humingi ako ng advice,” shared Klarisse. She is also happy that the new generation was somewhat introduced to Patti and her music, thanks to her performance which sparked netizens’ curiosity about the legendary singer.
Of her thirteen impersonations, copying Mariah Carey and Tom Jones was extra challenging due to their distinct voices, as well as the performances that required some dancing. Had the show been extended for a few more weeks, she would like to transform into Jennifer Hudson or Jennifer Holiday and maybe groove a little more.
Klarisse went on to talk about her latest single “Ulan ng Kahapon.” “Title pa lang hugot na hugot na,” she hinted, so listeners can expect deep emotions that revolve around heartbreaks and moving on.
“Ulan ng kahapon ang iniwan sa’kin. Ang kahapon na sana ika’y kapiling. Ulan ng kahapong puno ng sakit, iniwan lamang sa isang idlip,” says Klarisse’s favorite line from the song. “Ulan Ng Kahapon” is now available for streaming.
Before the show ended, Klarisse thanked every ‘Ka-familiar’ who supported her on her journey in Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3 and the shows’ three-month run.
