From being that adorable and talented kid who was one of the finalists of Star Circle Kid Quest Season 1 and went on to become one of the pioneers of the now-defunct long-running kiddie comedy show Goin’ Bulilit, CJ Navato captured our hearts with his singing talent.
His solo song covers, as well as those with fellow bulilit Kristel Fulgar, went viral online, thus he’s given the moniker “The Viral Crooner” in his Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3 stint. Every week, he never failed to deliver amazing performances that displayed his versatility as a singer.
As the weekly reality show approaches its much-awaited Grand Showdown this coming weekend, let’s take a look back on his remarkable journey in the competition via this feature!
WEEK 1 – CJ Navato as Jose Mari Chan

On the pilot week, he immediately won our hearts with his on-point performance of the classic love song “Beautiful Girl” as he impersonated OPM icon Jose Mari Chan, which received standing ovation from his fellow artists.
WEEK 2 – CJ Navato as Frank Sinatra

The same happened the following week as he transformed into legendary crooner Frank Sinatra and swooned us with his rendition of the well-loved “Fly Me to the Moon”. In other words, we loved it, too!

From one legend to another, CJ then brought late OPM icon Rico J. Puno back to life with his impressive performance of the all-time favorite hit “Macho Gwapito”, which made his co-contenders erupt from their seats to cheer for him and jury Sharon Cuneta emotional.

Taking a rest from portraying veterans singers, the 24-year-old singer-actor then made the hearts of a lot of girls (and girls at heart!) flutter as he transformed into pop superstar Justin Bieber and sang one of his top tracks “Love Yourself”.

For the fifth week of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3, he truly mesmerized us when he stepped on the stage as the “Queen of Alternative Rock” and seven-time Grammy winner Alanis Morissette and gave us an incredible performance of her timeless hit “Ironic”.

He indeed literally and figuratively shone like the studs on his costume and his shiny blond wig as he made us groove at our seats with his rendition of Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana”.

CJ once again proved his versatility as a performer, as from impersonating pop artists and balladeers, he rocked the stage as Axl Rose, the frontman legendary rock group Guns N’ Roses, and exerted his all in belting out their iconic track (and the go-to karaoke song for some if us, perhaps) “Sweet Child O’ Mine”.

A lot of ladies out there arguably couldn’t help their kilig as he transformed into young local pop star Iñigo Pascual and serenaded us with the LSS-inducing hit song “Dahil Sa ‘Yo”.

Despite being pressured as he had to imitate one of the judges Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano for the ninth week of the competition, CJ still did a great job in his performance of one of his latest track “Ililigtas Ka Niya” that indeed touched our hearts.
WEEK 10 – CJ Navato as Michael Bolton

From the looks up to the voice, some of us probably could hardly believe that it was CJ who was on-stage and not Michael Bolton, as the “Viral Crooner” really nailed his impersonation of the rock icon and the way he sang the powerful hit “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” on the 10th week of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3.

For Week 11, we were absolutely swept away with how the make-up and prosthetics team did a great job in turning him into award-winning singer-songwriter John Legend, which he impressively complemented with his rendition of “All Of Me”.

We’re really hoping that nobody closed their eyes, fell asleep, nor missed a thing from his Week 12 exhibition wherein he offered us his electrifying impression of rock legend Steven Tyler from his look up to his version of “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing”.
In this exciting finale, all contenders will choose their own favorite ultimate idol to impersonate as they vie to become this season’s Grand Winner of one million pesos and a house and lot.
