Kristine Zhenie Lobrigas Tandingan, or KZ, from Digos, Davao del Sur was proclaimed the winner of the reality music competition "The X Factor Philippines" in 2012. Hosted by KC Concepcion, the judging panel that deemed KZ the best of the lot consists of Charice, Gary Valenciano, Pilita Corrales, and Martin Nievera. Ironic as it may be, the champion singer almost lost her voice in high school because of a throat problem.
Right from the start of the competition, KZ showcased her versatility as a performer during the Judges' auditions. Her version of "Over the Rainbow" received a standing ovation from all the judges and her second song "Ready or Not" highlighted her skills in rapping. Since then, the aspirant has performed consistently throughout the competition and received praised from the panel and fellow contestants.
As if on a comeback, she reached the final stage after surviving being on the bottom two on the 9th week. It was only the judges' votes that made her land to safety and sing in the grand finals round.
While in tears, she sang The Carpenters' "Superstar" after she was named the grand winner. 1 | 2 | 3
