Anyone who is familiar with Klarisse De Guzman’s journey would know that she was a star from the get go. She was a four-chair turner during her blind auditions in the first season of The Voice Philippines in 2013, but long before her singing career as an adult, she actually took center stage in several singing competitions in the past such. On Twitter, she posted a clip of her from her Batang Kampeon days.
Along other aspiring young artists, she was a young dreamer so much so that as fate would put it, she got a chance to battle against a then 13-year old Sarah Geronimo in Star for a Night. It wasn’t long until she and fellow graduate, now the Popstar Royalty met again — this time in the Kapamilya Network. Like destiny, she chose Coach Sarah to be her mentor and true enough team Sarah fought for her until the very end.
Klarisse became the first-runner up that season but her success through the years was nothing short of a grand winner. On ASAP Natin ‘To alone, Klarisse proved to be a powerhouse when she made her presence felt while performing alongside veteran OPM artists in the industry. Performing numbers with Regine Velasquez-Alcasod, Bituin Escalante, Angeline Quinto, Morissette Amon , and Jona to name a few, really showed that she has really gone a long way.
Eventually Klarisse found herself in a group of four OPM belters dubbed Birit Queens. The Birit Queens were a regular sight to catch on ASAP Natin ‘To with every performance filled with superb vocal face offs. On stage, it was a fearsome vocal showdown, but off stage, they’re all really good and supportive friends.
Apart from being a regular on ASAP, Klarisse went on to sing in the official soundtrack of ABS-CBN teleserye such as Doble Kara, where she collaborated with fellow Birit Queen Morissette for a song called “Ikaw Ay Ako,” and Mirabella for the song “Sabihin Mo Sa Akin.”
After teaming up with The Voice Philippines alum Mitoy Yonting as guests in a recent episode of I Can See Your Voice, what’s next for Klarisse? We know she can sing, but now we’ll see her in a totally different light because she just happens to be one of ten celebrity performers who will be entertaining us in season 3 of Your Face Sounds Familiar. Klarisse’s impersonation skills will be put to the test and we can’t wait to see whose performances she will do covers for.
“Dreams do come true” — this is Klarisse’s major take away from her life-changing experience in The Voice Philippines. She has already achieved so much but she continues to dream for more anyway. We support your dreams 100%, Klarisse!
Watch Klarisse compete in the upcoming third season of the celebrity impersonation contest Your Face Sounds Familiar soon on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
