Filipina actress Jessy Mendiola started her showbiz career with the network as a Star Magic talent in 2007. It was her minor stint in "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" (2010) which paved the way to her becoming a primetime drama heroine and eventually made her join the ranks of the Kapamilya Drama Princesses. After the teleserye hit, Mendiola was trusted title roles and lead portrayals and the rest, as they say, is history.
The primetime soap Sabel was based on the 1981 classic movie "Bata Pa Si Sabel," which starred award-winning artists Snooky Serna and Albert Martinez. The 2010 afternoon series, on the other hand, was Mendiola's first biggest break. She played the role of Isabel "Sabel" Asuncion-Zaragosa, daughter of Choleng (Glydel Mercado) and Julio (Tonton Gutierrez).
Mendiola portrayed the role of Jacqueline "Jackie" Marasigan-Maniego, childhood bestfriend of Budoy. A family and advocacy drama, it tackles the story of mentally-challenged Budoy (Gerald Anderson) and his struggles as a member of the society.
