Intuition is a woman’s superpower. When she sniffs the smell of betrayal, expect her to be nosy and investigate until the perceived infidelity is proven true. Such is the case of Clarissa (Ana Abaad-Santos) who stopped at nothing to unearth all the receipts of husband Leo (Tonton Guttierez)’s affair in the primetime series Walang Hanggang Paalam.
The first sign of cheating, according to Clarissa, is coming home late without valid reasons. We can’t blame her for being so suspicious because Leo had quite a record of womanizing. When traces of the past started to show up again, Clarissa got extra curious about her husband’s whereabouts. “Classified information din ba ang pinupuntahan mo kaya walang dapat makaalam?” she asked him when he refused to hire a new driver who would keep him company in his seemingly secret affairs.
Fed up, Clarissa confronted Leo one night as he came home late. History and a woman’s intuition are a deadly combination. She called the series of events déjà vu, proving that trust, once broken, will never be the same again. “Pinilit kong kalimutan na pinagtaksilan mo ako pero ramdam na ramdam kong pwede mo pa rin akong palitan,” she said.
Like a true felon, the cheating Leo would still attempt to escape the verdict despite all the evidence and secrets sneaking out in the open. Because an unfaithful man’s conscience was poisoned the moment he took a bite into temptation.
Clarissa knows how to read between the lines such as when Leo flinched at the slightest query. Asked where he’d been, Leo’s defensiveness was triggered, igniting an argument that will crush Clarissa’s self-worth all over again. While it was Leo guilty of a crime, she remained patient and put her pride down by being the first one to apologize.
We also learned from Clarissa that the mobile phone is a storehouse of filthy secrets. If not, Leo wouldn’t be scared to let Clarissa take a peek into his conversation history. He was extremely infuriated that he was close to raising his hand on his helpless wife.
The ‘gigil’ was intense when Clarissa showed up in a restaurant, determined to catch her husband with his mistress. He saw him with Amelia (Cherry Pie Picache), her best friend and the snake she dreaded to encounter. Tension enveloped the scene but Amelia managed to make excuses and avoid potential confrontation. She told Clarissa that Leo asked for help to throw a surprise birthday party for her. Oblivious and completely devoted to her best friend, Clarissa bought all the lies.
However, Clarissa wasn’t that foolish the next time she caught Leo and Amelia dining out. She called her best friend to low-key investigate while keeping watch outside the venue. Albeit heartbroken, she maintained her composure while listening to Amelia told her lies and offered fake reassurance.
Dealing with twofold betrayal from her husband and best friend, Clarissa seethed with anger in a confrontation scene with Amelia. She demanded the truth while pointing a piece of broken glass to Amelia, at the sight of Lester (Ynigo Delen), the offenders’ love child.
Hell hath no fury like a woman betrayed by the man she devoted her whole life, heart, and soul to. Fed up with all the lies, Clarissa stormed to the Hernandez Hospital to confront Amelia and Leo in an altercation witnessed by the hospital’s employees.
In that scene, Leo admitted that Lester is his loved child with Amelia. But even until the end, Leo showed infernal arrogance towards his wife by lying that the affair has long ended and by blaming Clarissa for his failure to be a good father to his child.
The villains’ darkest secrets are bit by bit uncovered. Don’t miss an episode of Walang Hanggang Paalam, airing Monday to Friday on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
