10 ‘Pang Best Actress’ performances of Angelica Panganiban

Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban is everything rolled into one! Because of her versatility, her acting resume now boasts an array of colorful portrayals from sweet and dramatic to kontrabida and fierce. Here are ten of Angelica’s most applauded performances worthy of a ‘Best Actress’ recognition!

Angelica still carries traces of her innocent demeanor to this day, thus she was a perfect fit for the role of Patty in the daytime series Playhouse. The actress charmed viewers playing a loving and caring foster parent to her godchild, forcing her to play house with ex-husband Marlon (Zanjoe Marudo) in the middle of their annulment case.

While it was feel-good on most days, there were also dramatic moments in Patty and Marlon’s love story. In the most complicated and painful events such as trying to convince Marlon of her true feelings and finally letting each other go, Angelica would serve just the perfect blend of drama and light ‘kilig.’ She is blessed with the thespic spell that can make any scene so painful yet endearing.

Proving that she is an all-around actress, Angelica reprised the iconic role of Claudia Buenavista in the remake of Pangako Sa’Yo in 2015. The show was able to highlight Angelica’s growth as an actress and kontrabida flair. She was so effective even her ice-cold stare was more than enough to elicit ‘gigil.’ And the way she delivered her lines, with the most piercing points stressed with a raised eyebrow, would trigger all the hate in the world.

In Pangako Sa’Yo, Angelica had to put on sternness and appear as a controlling wife and mother. Of course, she also slayed the slapping and hair-pulling sessions with her ultimate nemesis, Amor Powers played by Jodi. Sta Maria. But even without getting physical, Angelica is just as terrifying in the most intense ‘friendly talk’ where she confronted Amor for trying to seduce her husband, Eduardo (Ian Veneracion), while sandwiched between the two. Despite being naturally friendly and jolly in real life, Angelica mounted realism to an onscreen persona that is fearless, and evil.

Pangako Sa’Yo was indeed a perfect complement to Angelica’s versatility. Apart from the terrifying kontrabida acts, she also had golden dramatic moments on the show. Remember when Eduardo grew tired of Claudia’s wickedness and lies that he decided to leave her. From bold and feisty, Angelica turned emotional in that breakdown scene shared with Andrea Brillantes, playing her youngest child.

If you can’t get enough of Angelica’s brilliance as an actress, watch her on action-drama series Walang Hanggang Paalam airing Monday to Friday on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online, and A2Z.
