Within the six months that it was on-air, Viral Scandal indeed had not fallen short in making our primetime viewing thrilling through its groundbreaking and relevant narrative that either got us happy, kilig, sad, or even agitated. We also found ourselves watching the exciting “End of Scandal” finale week with bated breaths as the remaining episodes were packed with action, drama, and much-awaited happy endings.
But more than the well-written story, what made us admire this teleserye was its bravery in tackling social issues that we usually don’t talk about in usual conversations or we find taboo, as well as the compelling portrayals of the whole ensemble of their respective characters. Besides, it has also championed women empowerment and fight for fake news and disinformation, which are truly pertinent to our country’s current situation.
As the female characters played significant roles in this well-loved series, the female cast members were asked to read out loud the letter of gratitude that was handed to them during their promotional shoot for the finale. While Charlie Dizon, Dimples Romana, Ria Atayde, Maxene Magalona, Karina Bautista, and Kaila Estrada were all-smiles and mirthful in the beginning of this video, but they eventually turned emotional as they read the contents of the beautifully written and heartwarming “Dear Team Viral Scandal” letter.
The letter reads:
“For the germ of the idea of this story to begin with,
For recognizing the void and filling it in with women’s voices, no less,
For the sleepless nights, tired hearts born out of uncertainty
For even having to fight for this story to be told
For the busy days apart from your families
For the undying commitment to character
This cast is most brilliant – I can’t pick a favorite – every single one of them
Yes, I am that girl, who not only has favorite actors, but favorite writers, creatives, too.
To its audience, the people, the victims’ plights it wished to put into focus
The women whose voices this story sought to amplify
For the courage that is constant, our invitation to be brave,
Gratitude.
This show’s legacy, collective voices raised of women, of children, of victims, and their allies.
For the power to be used mindfully,
For the few who hold it in their hands to be kept in check
And peace, equality, and justice
To no longer be pipe dreams for those who seek them
For making safer and better possible at all
The road is long, but if only for this beginning
For planting the warrior seed within us…
Mission accomplished.
Para sa kuwentong ito,
Sa panahong uhaw ang marami sa pagkilala, pasasalamat, pagpupugay, pagmamahal.”
The short video, which was also shown after the last scene in the finale episode aired last March 13, capped off with Charlie expressing how thankful and happy she is that the viewers were able to appreciate the hard work they poured into this project.
“Masaya lang na na-appreciate po nila ‘yong trabaho na ginawa namin. Naiparating namin ‘yong message talaga na gusto naming sabihin for Viral Scandal dahil sa mga audience and na-appreciate po nila. Thank you po,” she stated.
