We all know by now the Sicat family will never back down from any challenge. How about a karaoke competition? Bring it on!
In the first episode of Kapamilya Family Date Nights, the sixth phase of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” fundraising drive for victims of Super Typhoon Odette, Viral Scandal’s Sicat Family – Dimples Romana aka Kakay, Charlie Dizon aka Rica, Miko Raval aka Dan, Louise Abuel aka Nico, Karina Bautista aka Bea together with their ‘lalabs’ Aljon Mendoza aka Pogs – engaged viewers in a fun karaoke challenge while collecting donations via live streaming app Kumu and other platforms.
The game had three one-on–one rounds where the final three would emerge to battle it out in a next-level death match. If you’ve seen the Sicat brood’s rap videos on TikTok, we tell you, small things pa lang ‘yun! This time, they went all-out singing classic karaoke hits that we all know by heart.
KarJon extended their Valentine’s playlist in the first round. Karina gave her own flair to Ezra Band’s “Walang Iba,” to which Aljon reacted, “Parang tinamaan ako.” So to get back, he serenaded her with Gloc 9’s “Love Story Ko”. And the two exchanged kilig hirits as if the ‘rents weren’t watching. Kakay commented on Aljon’s singing, “Nagkandabuhol-buhol na ‘yung dila basta mapasok lang ‘yung lalabs,” and Dan declared, “Boto ako diyan!” Aljon won and advanced to the death match, which he thought was more of a punishment than victory. Lol.
Round 2 of this vocal showdown ended with a draw after Miko’s “Sorry Pwede Ba” and Louise’s “Ikaw Ang Mahal,” so they had to break the tie. Miko singing Daniel Padilla and Moira Dela Torre’s “Mabagal” beat the youngest Sicat who picked another from his favorite band VST & Co., “Ipagpatawad Mo.”
Dimples and Charlie brought their karaoke game on with Tootsie Guevera’s classic hit “Kaba” for the former and Gloc 9’s feel-good “Simpleng Tao” for the latter. Charlie rocked the cheesy yet upbeat rap verses while Dimples gave us nostalgic feels worthy of a perfect score. The seasoned actress said she’s nervous but it didn’t show while belting out the Regine Velasquez track “Dadalhin” as requested by Kumunizens.
Where’s the fun in a karaoke night that lacks some “Parokya Ni Edgar” songs? Miko got netizens singing with the infectious “This Guy’s In Love With You Pare” in the death match, where Aljon also performed “Nasa’yo Na Ang Lahat” and Dimples picked “Mr. Kupido” by Tootsie because “idol ko talaga siya, super iconic.”
Sing-along session is one of Sicat family’s ultimate bonding activities especially in the van while on the way to their lock-in base after taping. Dimples revealed that they have their own playlist, and that Miko has mastered “S2pid Luv” while Karina is the queen of “Banyo Queen.” Proving herself a cool mom, Dimples got the millennial vibes rolling with “Chinita Girl.”
The Sicat fambam ended the show with a pretty sweet last note, singing their favorite taping anthem “Habang Buhay” by Zack Tabudlo. Plus, the whole Viral Scandal team pledged Php 100, 000 for Operation Odette.
