He's been in the local entertainment industry for around seven years, yet Joshua Garcia has already proven his caliber as a young bankable, acclaimed actor through his impressive portrayals both in television and film.
And this year, we are about to see Joshua take on another challenging role in the primetime drama Viral Scandal. But before we marvel at Joshua’s impeccable acting chops once more as Kyle Constantino, let's reminisce his amazing journey on TV through this Kapamilya Spotlight feature.
Just like some of our popular Kapamilya artists at present, Joshua first emerged to stardom when he joined Pinoy Big Brother All In in 2014. He might have fell short on his Big Winner bid after getting evicted a week before the proclamation of the Big 4, but he's able to immediately break into the show business when he had his acting debut through Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita in 2015.
A year after, the 21-year-old talented heartthrob landed a role in the Kapamilya Gold family melodrama The Greatest Love as Zosimo "Z" Cruz, the doting and dependable sole grandson of the lead protagonist Gloria, impeccably played by veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez.
He further exhibited his acting brilliance via his remarkable stint in the 2017 mystery family drama The Good Son as the self-righteous, loving, and protective Joseph, who's the illegitimate son of Albert Martinez's Victor Buenavidez. For his gripping portrayal, Joshua won a string of acting awards, including the PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
That same year, Joshua appeared in a heartbreaking Maalaala Mo Kaya episode "Bituin" in which he played John, who'd sacrifice everything for the love of his life--the leukemia-afflicted Aika, played by Julia Barretto. This was until he met his own tragic fate.
In 2018, we saw him in a totally different light as he took on the character of the rich, straitlaced, and highbrow Inno Cortes paired with Julia's deprived yet determined Eva Mapendo in the primetime romance drama Ngayon At Kailanman about love that transcends life.
Joshua then appeared later that year in the MMK episode "Medalya" as the late Army Private First Class Ian Paquit, whose heroic deeds in the 2013 Zamboanga siege made him the youngest recipient of the Medal of Valor.
His most recent teleserye appearance was when he took on the vivacious and hardworking Elias Sanchez, in the 2019 suspense-thriller drama The Killer Bride, wherein he began his onscreen partnership with Janella Salvador.
After their successful and kilig tandem in The Killer Bride, Joshua and Janella starred in the MMK episode “Tren” about a young love that overcame life’s challenges. Joshua’s most recent portrayal was his acclaimed performance as Maro, a poor kid who would stop at nothing to attain his dreams.
Don't forget to catch him in his latest TV gig, the intense, riveting Viral Scandal, which revolves around the story of a family, whose lives turned upside down when a scandalous, controversial video involving the eldest daughter, Ikay, played by 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actress Charlie Dizon, goes viral. It premieres on Monday, November 15 on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
