In just three years in the biz, Charlie Dizon reached her dream pinnacle as an actress, being adjudged the best in the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival for the Antoinette Jadaone movie “Fan Girl.”
Charlie’s lead stints increased dramatically in her fourth year as a Kapamilya actress—first in the digital movie “My Sunset Girl” and the upcoming primetime teleserye Viral Scandal, wherein she plays Rica “Ikay” Sicat, a budding architecture apprentice whose life turned upside down after getting caught in a maelstrom due to an upsetting viral video.
But before we witness Charlie take on a potential award-winning portrayal opposite another superb actor, Joshua Garcia, on Viral Scandal, let us look back at her previous appearances on shows aired on the Kapamilya network in this edition of Kapamilya Spotlight.
Charlie’s first exhibited her wide-ranging dramatic chops in her breakthrough role on the 2018 fantasy series Bagani, headlined by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. Charlie played Marikit, a once rich kid turned pirate from the Farm Region. After Marikit’s death, she reappeared to play Halina, Marikit’s mother, in flashback scenes.
That same year, Charlie appeared in a supporting role in the Ipaglaban Mo episode “Kakampi” as Sandra, together with Maris Racal and Mary Joy Apostol.
By 2019, Charlie was tapped to take on the character Apple in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode “Choir” that featured Vivoree Esclito and CK Kieron. This was before she was included in the cast of Parasite Island months later that provided her the opportunity to further showcase her impressive acting potential as Princess Salvacion.
But what made Charlie rise in popularity was her appearance on the gripping drama A Soldier’s Heart as Isabel, whose scenes with Nash Aguas’s character Michael, brought thrilling kilig feels to viewers. She zoomed up to celebrity status since then, as her name began to pop-up on Internet searches, particularly in YouTube, where her cute appearances with Nash are often played.
And after her bagging her milestone Best Actress victory in the 2020 MMFF that sealed her place among the Kapamilya greats, Charlie was given her first lead role in a television drama in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode “Planner” together with Jameson Blake. She played the role of letter sender Jobelle whose genuine love for her longtime boyfriend was put to the ultimate test.
It was then announced that Charlie would lead an ensemble cast for her very first major project, Viral Scandal, which would further provide her yet another venue for acting acclaim.
Catch Charlie on the premiere of Viral Scandal on Monday, November 15 on the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
