Being faced with a raging controversy emanating from damaging content circulating online is unspeakably traumatic, yet commonplace nowadays.
With everyone focused on the Internet and social media, using devices conveniently available everywhere, popularity comes rapidly for many, but this could also quickly demean and destroy the lives of individuals. This is the premise of the upcoming series Viral Scandal that is set to grip our primetime viewing beginning Monday, November 15.
The story revolves around the Sicat family, whose lives turned upside down after a scandalous video emerged online and went viral, involving the eldest daughter, Rica, who is played by award-winning actress Charlie Dizon.
Rica, or Ikay, works as an apprentice in the architecture firm, Balai Arkitektura. She responsibly oversees the welfare of her siblings Bea (Karina Bautista) and Nico (Louise Abuel) together with dad Dan (Miko Raval). She acts as their second mom, after their mother Kakay left for Dubai to take on various jobs to earn a living for the family.
Rica’s boss is the firm’s CEO, Kyle Constantino, played by Joshua Garcia. At first, Kyle seemed uncaring and cold to his subordinates, as he maintained a strictly professional relationship with them, including Rica. But he would soon unexpectedly cross paths with Rica in a life-threatening situation that brought them closer to one another.
All turned for the better for the liberal, modern, and independent Rica and her budding career until a controversial video widely shared on the Internet brought chaos and bedlam, affecting her and her beloved family deeply. This controversy also involved the influential Ramones family, led by the Sidero City Mayor Troy Ramones (Jake Cuenca), his adoptive brother Bobby (Gian Magdangal), and nephew Jigs (Markus Paterson), whose obsession with Rica led to this turmoil.
Rica, with the help of her father Dan and siblings Bea and Nico, together with her returning mother Kakay, faced the controversy head-on and dealt with the uproar as one family.
