Family Date Night Karaoke Joshua Charlie

Hidden talents were unleashed in the second episode of Kapamilya Family Date Nights, the 7th phase of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” fundraising drive for Typhoon Odette survivors, as Viral Scandal stars bring their ‘karaoke’ game on.

Besides food, clean water, and hygiene kits, Odette survivors also need home repair kits to help in their rehabilitation and recovery. With that, the featured artists, Balai Arkitektura’s main trio Joshua Garcia, Charlie Dizon, and Jameson Blake, together with Vance Larena and Aya Fernandez spearheaded the donation drive by entertaining Kapamilyas in a fun ‘karaoke’ night.

The vocal showdown kicked off with Aya’s soothing version of Moira Dela Torre’s “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko,” her character Ella’s special song for Archie played by Vance. Vance, in turn, serenaded his onscreen partner with “Hiling” by Jay-R Siaboc that speaks about one true love.

The OPM playlist continued in the second round, with Jameson’s live singing of “Di Maiwasan,” a track from Hashtags’ album, plus a quick sample of his dance group’s signature moves for “pampataas ng score.”

Before singing “Ikaw Pa Rin” by Tito Mina, Joshua showed off his trending TikTok dance moves, then uttered a quick dedication, “Para ‘to sa mga taong… taong matatamaan.”

The battle round finished with Charlie’s super cute rendition of the Yeng Constantino hit, “Chinito,” which sparked an impromptu “Totropahin o Jojowain'' Challenge featuring chinito leading men.

First off, the OG Chinito Enchong Dee, to whom she answered ‘jojowain.’ She went for ‘totropahin’ for Xian Lim and Richard Juan. The fast-rising leading lady laughed upon the mention of Joshua and Jameson’s names, arguing whether or not they’re legit chinitos until she’s able to escape the grilling.

The trio then competed with a tiebreaker song, “Torete,” which Joshua pretty much knows by heart because it was the theme song of his 2017 film “Love You To The Stars and Back.” Joshua and Charlie tied scores again, so they picked another ‘pangmalakasan’ piece, “Sigurado” for her and “Paraluman” for him.

Joshua then advanced to the final round versus Aya wherein the latter also performed “Sigurado” and the former pretended he’s in a mall show singing “Itanong Mo Sa Akin.”

Before the announcement of final scores, Charlie, Jameson, and Vance commented on the performances.

Vance noted the maturity in Joshua’s voice and ‘puso’ in Aya’s singing, which led to teases about her relationship status. After reaching the target amount of gifts donated to live streaming app, KUMU, Aya hinted at her love life by inviting viewers to watch “He’s Into Her” Season 2 where Turs Daza is a part of. Although she mentioned Turs’ name, Aya didn’t give a direct ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer if she’s in a relationship.

Meanwhile, Jameson remarked, “Songerist pala si Joshua hindi niya lang pinapakita sa taping.” With that, Joshua emerged as the champion in this fun karaoke showdown.

Watch out for the next featured artists in Kapamilya Family Date Nights until March 9. For the finale episode, Viral Scandal will team up with Maalaala Mo Kaya to raise one million pesos for Operation Odette. Should the target amount be reached, KarJon’s characters Bea and Pogs’ backstory will be shown in a special short film.
