Behind-the-Scenes: Jake, Maxene, and Kaila exude chemistry as Sidero’s first family in Viral Scandal

Being in the acting industry since they were teens, Jake Cuenca and Maxene Magalona once again prove their versatility by playing parents to a young adult, Kaila Estrada, in Viral Scandal. Even if Jake and Maxene have no legit parental experiences in real life, and it’s only Kaila’s first teleserye stint, the trio is pulling off their multifaceted roles as Sidero’s first family and giving viewers real cathartic experience through their heart-tugging scenes in the controversial drama series.

Their recent dramatic encounter, for instance, was so organic we can’t help but root for Kaila’s Raven Ramones, for the way she portrayed brokenness and pain that come from love. Although it started from an alcoholic breakdown and a near-death experience, Raven was finally able to freely express how devastating it felt watching their home slowly break apart. For the first time, Troy (Jake) and Audrey (Maxene) listened and responded with surprising affection, not sermon. And the result is a deeply affecting scene that is alternately melancholic and breathtaking.

Wanting to fix their filial problems using real solutions and not pretense, Troy and Audrey decided to bring Raven to a rehabilitation center, and the latter agreed. Check out their quiet and touching moment:

Playing a family on screen requires chemistry and teamwork and the good thing is the Ramones trio has both. Taking a tour down their Instagram pages, we could see how Jake, Maxene, and Kaila have become one another’s best friends and biggest fans behind the scenes.

Kaila, as a rookie, often posts appreciation for Jake and Maxene, thanking them for their generosity on-cam, as well as for their guidance and wisdom off-cam. “Couldn’t ask for better on-screen parents,” she said on an Instagram upload. Then, in another: “No words can express how grateful I am to you @juancarloscuenca @maxenemagalona. Working with you guys is a dream!! Thank you for the guidance, patience, trust and love.”

They’re a beautiful family, right? Well they appear like siblings off-cam but when it’s time to put on their characters, expect Jake and Maxene to transform into credible parents.

But the best thing about playing as the Ramones family is picking up lessons from their roles. In a wacky photo of them, Maxene filled the caption with beautiful words about love related to their characters’ current story arc. “True love is breaking down walls and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable in front of the ones closest to us. Because when families communicate openly and honestly even through all the pain and tears, everyone can be happy and smile again,” she said, inviting viewers to “watch how the Ramones family finds love and healing by finally facing their pain and sadness.”
