The story of The Broken Marriage Vow may have been inspired from a foreign show, but it’s talents and production will truly and proudly be Pinoy.
The much-awaited series will be using Filipino-made designs for the costumes of the cast. Director Connie Macatuno, who is also the Costume Design Head, has always wanted to do a teleserye featuring clothes and accessories from local designers and materials. So when she was asked to direct for The Broken Marriage Vow, she invited various designers to share their urban and luxe designs for the show and it was a pleasant surprise that they all agreed even without knowing what the show was all about.
Direk Connie could only give praise and appreciation for the looks they were able to get from the local designers, “Sobrang ganda ng trabaho ng mga Pinoy, ‘yong mga works, ‘yong mga designs. I feel na showcased siya in the series.”
The set’s stylist and the rest of the wardrobe team fell in love with the concept. They said that this project is definitely exciting because they will be using pieces that are unique and rarely used in teleseryes. With it, viewers will not only get a good show, but they will be encouraged to support their own as they see Filipino culture and skill in the fabrics, craftsmanship, and designs.
More than that, the team and Direk Connie want the Filipino talent to make a difference globally, “Gusto ko makita how we can wear our roots in a different way… And showcase original works from designers that have global appeal. So sana sa series na ito, ma-appreciate ‘yong mga gawang Pilipino, hindi lang dito sa Pilipinas, kung ‘di worldwide.”
