Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, former singer, actress and TV host Julia Clarete, online sensation DJ Loonyo and Broadway diva Lea Salonga reveal their secrets to success in this episode of I Feel U.
Pia Wurtzbach winning the Miss Universe crown for the Philippines for the first time in four decades brought jubilation and pride to the entire country. Her journey in fulfilling her dreams reflects our own victories and defeats. She had her share of bashing and derision in the many times she failed to win a Binibining Pilipinas title after several attempts. Pia said people would tell her she’s not fit to represent the country in international beauty pageants, especially Miss Universe. But that was what made Pia determined to show everybody what she’s capable of doing and in the end proved detractors wrong by finally winning Binibining Pilipinas Universe and eventually the highly coveted Miss Universe crown in 2015. She also said that even if you would pursue and fight for your dreams, you must also have fun.
On the other hand, former showbiz personality now fulltime wife and mom Julia Clarete may have been out of the showbiz industry, but she has been living her life to the fullest. After taking a “breather” in Malaysia for three years, Julia has actually been back in the country for two years now. Julia said that reaching for what you want in life is not going to be easy. You have to have enough patience and optimism while you’re putting in the work. But one of the most important things according to Julia is that you should know how to work smart aside from knowing how to work hard.
Meanwhile. DJ Loonyo, an online sensation known for his viral TikTok dance challenges, said that it’s your passion that can lead you to see and realize your purpose in life. He said being an unexpected online star was actually something he appreciates a lot, while stressing that he also must be held accountable for the things he has said and done in the platform he chose.
And finally, Broadway diva Lea Salonga also shared her pieces of advice to those who have big goals and dreams for their future. The The Voice Teens coach, who brought honor to the country as an international theater luminary and the first Asian to win a Tony Award for Miss Saigon, among other noteworthy recognitions such as the Olivier and Theatre World Awards, emphasized that it’s actually not a matter of winning or losing, it’s about what you are able to build after that. She also said that it’s life that will teach and make you realize things that will eventually transform you into a better version of yourself and that will help you reach for your dreams.
