Many celebrities today earn their ticket into show business through a reality show like Pinoy Big Brother or a contest like The Voice Of The Philippines. There are still others, however, who started off with minor roles on teleseryes or commercials. On Search Party, seven of your favorite Kapamilya stars revisited their first ever acting role that you might have forgotten already. As the new Darna for the upcoming superhero reboot, Jane de Leon is living the dream of countless young actresses. Aside from this, she previously appeared in hit primetime shows like La Luna Sangre and Halik. Although, before she shot to fame, Jane made her acting debut on the 2012 daytime drama Be Careful with My Heart in a scene with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
The cast of the iconic series Tabing Ilog included some of today’s biggest names like Jodi Sta. Maria and John Lloyd Cruz. Also on the bill then was Rafael Rosell. Most recently, he starred in the Sunday series Parasite Island along with former Tabing Ilog co-star Desiree del Valle. Currently, we can watch him as Bart in the re-airing of 100 Days To Heaven.
Enchong Dee has been in the industry for over a decade. His extensive resume includes The Blood Sisters, A Love to Last, Ina, Kapatid, Anak, and Katorse. But did you know, the first time he ever appeared on television was on the talk show Homeboy which was hosted by The King of Talk Boy Abunda. At the time, Enchong was only 16 years old. “Chubby cheeks and makapal na makeup,” he recalled the experience.
“First time ko talaga ‘yun. Wala kong kaalam-alam,” Heaven Peralejo remembered being on set of the 2015 horror movie “Buy Now, Die Later” which was led by Alex Gonzaga and Vhong Navarro. She was only an extra back then. Today, she is one of the regular characters on the hit afternoon teleserye Pamilya Ko.
Veteran actor Joko Diaz remains active today with back to back roles on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and Kadenang Ginto. Some of his earliest works were from the 80s, but his first ever acting role was actually on the 1973 movie “Laya” which starred Rudy Fernandez and Dante Varona. Joko was only four years old!
Meanwhile, Maxine Medina and Donny Pangilinan first stepped in front of cameras for television commercials. Binibining Pilipinas 2016 remembered crying on cue for the shoot. “Totoong luha ‘yun,” she boasted. Since then, she has continued to prove her acting skills through projects like Precious Heart Romances Presents Los Bastardos. Donny was on a cereal commercial with his parents, Maricel Laxa and Anthony Pangilinan, when he was only five years old. Now, he has managed to build his own career with lead roles in movies like “James and Pat and Dave”.
