The boys of “2 Good 2 Be True” led by Daniel Padilla spread good vibes in the 4th episode of Kapamilya Family Date Nights benefit show, which is part of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” donation drive for Typhoon Odette survivors.
Joining Daniel is Romnick Sarmenta, Cris Villanueva, Yves Flores, Matt Evans, Smokey Manaloto, Hyubs Azarcon, and veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez. The featured artists witnessed the devastating effects of Typhoon Odette in one way or another, thus the benefit show holds a special meaning to them.
Yves said he recently went to Ormoc and chatted with the linesmen, who weren’t able to come home for a month in the name of duty. Romnick shared that his helper’s house in Bohol was completely wrecked by the typhoon.
Cris’ wife and daughter witnessed the struggle of our ‘kababayans’ during a recent visit to a friend in Cebu. “Sa isang hotel na tinutuluyan nila, isang portion wasak dahil nasagasaan ng barko. ‘Yung internet nila was so bad na hindi kami pwedeng mag-video call by the time they were there. Alalang-alala rin ako dahil nakakatakot na mawalan kami ng komunikasyon. Most of the houses were swept away talaga. That’s why our families never stopped praying for them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Daniel, whose maternal side hails from Tacloban, Leyte, was reminded of the horrors of Typhoon Yolanda. His heart goes for the affected Kapamilyas, thus the desire to be part of Operation Odette that aims to provide food, water, as well as hygiene and repair kits for the affected families.
While collecting donations via live streaming app KUMU and other platforms, Daniel and his co-stars entertained viewers by taking on different games and challenges, starting off with their “hidden talents.” Yves whistled using his fingers, Romnick did voice impersonations, Ronaldo belted out “Maria” from “West Side Story,” and Cris showed off his finger tricks. Yves, Hyubs and Smokey also danced to “Paru-Paro G,” then, they all jammed to Daniel’s “Kumusta Ka.”
Next up, “Who’s Most Likely To” Challenge! They voted Yves as always tardy, and his roommate Matt would attest, “Ang hirap mong gisingin,” to which he replied in defense, “Pinagtutulungan lang nila akong lahat.”
Yves thought his friends were ganging up on him because the losing player might take on a dare. They said he’s most likely to have the lowest score in karaoke even if he doesn’t really sing. He would raise the white flag by the third question on who’s most likely to scream over horror movies. “Huwag na tayong maglaro! Dare na lang tayo agad,” he quipped.
They took the game more seriously in the next rounds, voting Hyubs as the youngest to start drinking. They said Romnick had the most ex-girlfriends but Smokey is the heartbreaker. Matt often forgets his lines during takes. Yves is most likely to not shower for a week. Daniel is most likely to treat the whole cast to an out of town trip.
The cast got more candid in the next game called “Never Have I Ever.” Daniel revealed he has worn someone else’s underwear, usually his friends’ during unplanned sleepovers. He has used someone else’s toothbrush. He also got drunk and woke up in another person’s room, that of his sibling.
Daniel admitted that he laughed during a kissing scene. Also Matt, during his loveteam days with Melissa Ricks, “Hindi siya allowed dati ng kissing scene kasi bata pa kami. Nung time na allowed na siya, ‘yun yung medyo awkward.” It took them a lot of bloopers before they perfected their first onscreen kiss.
Romnick confessed that he’s kissed a stranger in a bar, “Sinalubong ako ng lasing.” Smokey has tried using dating applications. Ronaldo has rejected a sexy offer before, lied about his age, and also responded to a basher. Daniel likewise experienced replying to a troll, “Pwede naman talaga tayong sumagot pero pinipili lang natin ‘di ba. Kasi hindi naman natin pwedeng sagutin lahat kasi kababawan.”
They have never drunk-texted a girl and never caused another couple’s breakup. Almost all of them have forgotten where they parked and once missed a flight.
Near the end of the show, the cast shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the much-anticipated KathNiel series “2 Good 2 Be True,” plus Kathryn Bernardo made a surprise appearance.
