While many of us were arguably engrossed with all the drama and action brought by most of the teleseryes ABS-CBN has offered us this 2019, we also found ourselves fascinated with fantastical narratives that totally toyed with our eyes and imagination.
As we’re about to flip onto the new page that is 2020, here’s a rundown of the five most stupefying and unbelievable magical transformation scenes in Kapamilya teleseryes that truly made our jaws drop and our eyes enlarge this year.
Wansapanataym: Switch Be With You
Imagine an “It Girl” switching bodies with a ruggedly-dressed tomboy. Kind of unlikely, right?
That’s where the plot of the Wansapanataym series titled “Switch Be With You” revolved, which starred Barbie Imperial as the gorgeous and clever car sales agent named Pia and Chai Fonacier as the simple and gumptious poor gal known by her nickname Upeng.
The switch happened after the mobile phones they’re respectively using were struck by lightning one busy day.
Wansapanataym: Mr. Cutepido
While acclaimed young actor-dancer McCoy de Leon can already make our hearts aflutter with his striking handsomeness, irresistible charm, and unmistakable prowess in acting and dancing, he further made us fall head over heels on him not only by playing the role of a radio station’s love DJ named Val, but as the golden-haired cupid as well. Wasn’t he the cutest love angel we’ve ever seen?
Hiwaga ng Kambat
Being bullied since he was a kid due to his eerie façade that resembled a bat, Iking (Edward Barber) was seemingly able to exact revenge against one of his tormenters Mateo (Grae Fernandez), who happened to be his estranged brother as well, without doing it by himself after the curse that was mysteriously transferred to the latter during an event.
Parasite Island
For those who are fond of any vampire-related narrative, Parasite Island is definitely a recommended watch. It follows the stories of the people of a remote island village off the coast of mainland Luzon, which is beleaguered by “a legend about mysterious, invasive, and parasitic leeches that turn people into zombie-like state”, just like what happened to lead antagonist Queenie (Desiree del Valle).
Starla
Serving as our breather to the slew of action-packed and drama-laden series that have graced our primetime viewing this year, Starla indeed never failed to bring good vibes to the viewers, not just through its well-written script, unique storyline, and the morals it imbued to us in every episode, but with its cinematic elements as well that truly bring amusement to us.
One of the most recent exhilarating moments we’ve seen on the show was the jaw-dropping transformation of Starla (Jana Agoncillo) into a human after Mang Greggy wished her to be one for the sake of Buboy.
