Barbie Imperial embarks on a matchmaking mission in the midst of a love triangle between Paulo Angeles and Taiwanese actor Stephen Rong in iWant’s original romantic comedy-fantasy series “Taiwan That You Love,” streaming on Wednesday (September 25).
Barbie plays optimistic Ivi, who follows her long-time boyfriend Eric (Paulo) to Taiwan for his summer internship. She lies to him about having accepted a teacher assistant job, while in truth, she operates an underground walking tour service in Taiwan. During one of these, Ivi encounters brooding artist Wei-Ting (Stephen), another tenant in their condominium, where they unintentionally knock out an old man.
This old man turns out to be Yue Lao, the Matchmaking God, who tells Ivi that she is the next matchmaking Goddess and is supposed to bring together couples who are destined for each other as written in the magical book he turns over to her.
Since the names in the book are written in Chinese, she seeks the help of Wei-Ting, who is hesitant at first, but is eventually charmed by Ivi’s persistence. The two set out on their mission and grow closer together, causing friction on her and Eric’s relationship and her boyfriend to become jealous.
Amidst being torn between the two, Ivi is daunted by the fact that if she fails her matchmaking duties, she would be destined to be forever alone.
Will Ivi succeed in her mission? Will she fall for Wei-Ting or will she make amends with Eric?
“Taiwan That You Love” features Barbie’s second lead role in a series after last year's hit Kapamilya teleserye Araw Gabi. Paulo, a member of It’s Showtime’s Hashtags, also appeared in “Araw Gabi,” Dream Dad, and La Luna Sangre. Stephen, meanwhile, is an actor, singer-songwriter, DJ, model, and host, who was once challenged in a stage play by performing 18 different characters. His experience spans stage, TV, movies, and music.
