Every KathNiel fan must be feeling over the moon after it was revealed that the love team would be starring in an upcoming 2020 teleserye titled “Tanging Mahal”. Although a date has yet to be announced, we do know that it will be partly set in Mexico. This will be a reunion for Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla after 2018’s blockbuster success “The Hows of Us”. Now, in anticipation for the sure hit series, let’s walk down memory lane and revisit their last primetime teleserye from 2017—La Luna Sangre.
“Kakaiba naman ‘to,” Daniel described. It was more than a remake because it served as the sequel to Lobo which starred Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual, and Imortal which starred Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz.
La Luna Sangre was memorable for many reasons. One is the fact that many of the cast members later on became Daniel’s friends on and off set. He also enjoyed working with special effects. Although, some of the stunts they still had to do themselves. They even had a fight instructor who previously worked with Jackie Chan. They had to train hard in order to execute the stunts well and safely.
As action-packed and adrenaline pumping as this fantaserye was, apparently Got to Believe had scarier stunts. “Mas nakakatakot pa ‘yung huling eksena doon sa Got to Believe,” Daniel recalled. He felt like Spiderman because of all the tumbling that he had to do on such a high floor, no less. But he could not say no to Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina. “Siyempre, ‘pag sinabi ni Direk Cathy sa’yo ‘yun, hindi ka pwedeng humindi. Gawin mo,” he shared with a laugh. The thing with Direk Cathy, however, is that she will never make you do something that she cannot do herself. “Bago mo gawin ‘yun, gagawin niya muna,” Daniel added. In Got to Believe, she literally climbed a ferris wheel, “Inakyat niya ‘yun para ipakita na ganito gagawin mo.” So, it is no surprise that this is one of DJ’s personal favorite out of all the projects he has done.
