Nowadays, Daniel Padilla is a household name. The projects he has starred in were hits to Kapamilyas. In fact, his early works are considered unforgettable by his fans, just like Got to Believe. This 2013 romantic drama series with Kathryn Bernardo and director Cathy Garcia-Molina is one of DJ’s personal favorites.
Why ‘Got To Believe’ was Daniel Padilla’s fave teleserye
Before that, however, there was the 2012 series Princess and I. It was Daniel’s first teleserye on the Primetime Bida block. Originally, he and Khalil Ramos only played supporting characters. Meanwhile, Kathryn was actually paired with Enrique Gil. They even had a movie together in 2011 titled “Way Back Home”. Still, Daniel had a positive mindset, “No problem. Blessing ‘to.” Lucky for him, the plot shifted in his favor. “From a spoiled rich kid, akalain mo prinsipe pala ko,” he remembered.
“’Yun yung mga moments na tine-treasure ko,” the actor continued. Apparently, it was during this teleserye that his feelings for Kathryn became real. He started taking some scenes personal. “Kahit sa totoong buhay parang hindi kayang pumayag na may manalo sa akin. Sa akin lang si Kathryn dyan,” he admitted. There were instances when he felt jealous, but at least the attraction helped with their on-screen chemistry.
Although, the KathNiel love story initially kicked off on Growing Up. Daniel recalls a scene between the two in the 2011 show that is the spark for their tandem. It excited him because this opportunity gave him a chance to get to know her, “Masaya na rin ako dahil si Kathryn hirap na hirap akong kausapin bilang torpe nga kong tao noon.” And the rest is history!
