At the age of 4, she knew that she wanted to be an actress and faced all challenges head on. Kathryn Chandria Manuel Bernardo, who is celebrating her 21st birthday today, was 7 when she played the young Cielo (Bea Alonzo) in It Might Be You. Followed by Krystala in 2008.
She also played the young Maricel Soriano in Vietnam Rose. Soon, she became part if the youth oriented television show, Goin' Bulilit-- her first regular T.V show.
In October 2008, Kathryn graduated from Goin' Bulilit. Her studies took most of her time but she also did guestings for Maalalaala Mo Kaya, Your Song Presents and dubbed for the animation, Super Inggo At Ang Super Tropa. Kathryn's acting was commended in Magkaribal when she played the role of Anna Abella, the young Gretchen Barretto, who went through several tragedies in the series. As luck would have it, casting was being made for the remake of the 90's drama classic, Mara Clara, topbilled by Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. This time, Kathryn was chosen along with Julia Montes to be the lead stars. The show had consistent high ratings and made Julia who played Clara and Kathryn who played Mara, household names. This led to several road shows and endorsements together. And were soon cast in the teen show, Growing Up.
In 2012, Kathryn comes back as royalty in Princess and I, where she was teamed up with three men: Khalil Ramos who played her bestfriend; Enrique Gil, who played the Prince from Yangdon; and lastly, Daniel Padilla, who annoys Princess Mikay at first but falls in love with her in the end.
The following year, Kathryn played the role of Chichay, another lovable character across Joaquin played by Daniel in Got To Believe, a story of two people who were unlikely to be friends but found comfort in each other and eventually fell in love. Directed by Ms. Cathy Garcia-Molina, the show was again was heavily supported by fans making it one of 2013's biggest hits. The series also proved to be a hit in neighboring Asian countries. In 2015, Vietnam invited Kathniel, and were wildly received by fans when they attended the Face of The Year Awards where they were recognized as Best Foreign Actor and Actress respectively, as determined by fan votes for their performance in Got To Believe.
KathNiel's next soap was a remake of the Jericho Rosales-Kristine Hermosa classic, Pangako Sa'Yo, dubbed as the first ever teleserye that ran for two years. Kathryn plays the role of Yna Macaspac who falls in love with Angelo Buenavista, in a modern Romeo and Juliet set up with more twists than ever before. Pangako Sa'Yo was consistent in being one of the top three primetime shows from when it started, usually landing the top spot until it ended February of 2016.
