In a joint statement released exclusively on Tonight with Boy Abunda in the January 20 episode, Nadine Lustre and James Reid confirmed their break up. This comes after weeks of speculations on social media. “It’s true that we have split up but not for all the reason that are being spread on the tabloids and social media,” the statement reads.

As for the cause of the breakup, the ex-couple wants to focus on themselves and their careers. “We decided to focus on ourselves not only for our careers but more for out personal growth as we are still young and we want to achieve as much as we can,” they explained.
Despite this shocking news about JaDine, the two are still good friends and are still looking forward to working together. In fact, back in December, Nadine signed a contract under James’ independent music label, Careless Music.
To celebrate the memorable years they spent together, here is a throwback of the first time JaDine visited Kapamilya Chat!
At the time, Nadine and James were promoting their movie “Para sa Hopeless Romantic”. They talked about attending workshops because it was their first romantic drama. Up until then, their projects had only been romantic comedies.
Aside from promoting the movie, they also answered some big questions from their fans. When asked to rate their tandem, Nadine gave it a 10 out of 10. “Talagang teamwork kami. Solid talaga kami,” she said about their partnership and friendship. Back then, James admitted that he could not see them becoming a couple in real life as long as they are working together. “Cause right now what we have is really good and I don’t want to ruin anything. If we weren’t working together, it’s a different story,” he stated.
Before ending their chat with fans, Nadine and James tried dubsmash using a scene from “A Very Special Love” which starred Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz. They then went head to head in a Lip Sync Battle. Nadine performed Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” while James performed Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You”.
As a final treat for their supporters, JaDine sang “Hanap-hanap”.
